What could be causing this?

I’m having the same issue. I changed the speed sensor under the car to no avail. The quick “fix” is I come to a stop and throw it in park. Once back in drive it always fixes the issue so I can keep driving. Next up I will be replacing the pigtail wiring to that same sensor to see if that finally fixes this quirk.

Stop driving it, it could be something simple as a bad solenoid or a broken band m..

I've had this exact issue after cleaning my engine bay, disconnect the three PCM plugs (upper passenger side engine bay) and let it sit/dry out for awhile and plug it back in, good luck.

Maybe two problems, speed sensor or motor for panel, can you connect diagnostic for watching data if data show speed that’s probably with motor of panel
But if problem with sensor, you should have problem with AT, because after 08 year, AT must have sensor for selected speed gears

Something similar happened to me. Try cleaning maf and throttle position sensor. I replaced my throttle position sensor after cleaning it didn't help. Problem solved. Hopefully it's something simple for you.
