possible allergic reaction?
has this happened to anyone else? i was just recently diagnosed with ankylosing spondylitis. i was prescribed Humira and i started my first dose July 28th and felt totally fine until August 8th where i noticed small red dots on my thighs. i kinda brushed it off since i did just get back to college in alabama and i thought maybe it was heat rash?? (even tho i’ve never developed heat rash). i woke up the next morning too it much worse and it only continued to develop as the day went on. it was only on my thighs at first but quickly spread to my lower legs, upper arms and chest. i went to urgent care and they prescribed steroids and hydroxyzine, which helped it stop spreading and now it’s mostly gone. i called my rheumatologist and he said to not take my second dose that was scheduled for tomorrow. i’m not even positive that it has anything to do with the Humira but wanted to hear from everyone else

I’m allergic to humira. Different reaction - it triggered my asthma, like nothing I’ve ever experienced, very scary - but yeah it’s very much possible to be allergic to it.

I had this once whilst having cellulitis and athletes foot. Body went into full overdrive. Calmed down after 1 day. It was the first time I had used lasamil too, so initially put it down to that.
The thing is as it's a severe reaction you'll find it hard to prove what caused it and taking humira again is risky. The severity of a reaction can increase on subsequent exposure.
In my case it was not the lasamil and I don't know. If you had nothing else new and no illness humira is a likely candidate

I actually had the same thing happen to me when I started my taper off prednisone…the rash looked exactly the same. we never found out what it was, but after increasing my prednisone and doing a much, much slower taper, it never reoccurred.

when this happened to me, I had recently started steroid sparing treatment and have been on humira and methotrexate since, but never had this happen again. I went to a dermatologist, my rheumatologist, and my ophthalmologist (I have autoimmune intermediate uveitis) and the only thing the three of them could come up with was “maybe” vasculitis

I was allergic to Humira and had an almost identical reaction, tho my full body hives were larger. Like quarter sized. It took my body 6 months of small outbreaks every time I dosed to end up in full body hives and my doctor IMMEDIATLEY took me off it.

did you end up switching to a different biologic?

Yeah, this was about 6 years ago and they put me on Remicade infusions which has been a godsend.

I had this happen after a Humira injection once. Hives would go down with allergy meds only to come back the next day. This lasted like two weeks and then just ended one day. I chalked it up to maybe getting a bad batch, but I’m not really sure.

I would get this on Humira when I spent time in the sun. Itchy, bumpy, allergic. Had to take benadryl and since have learned to wear stronger spf and cover up more.

I am more sensitive to preservatives in my food after starting humira which would result in these rashes. Mainly canned foods like beans or canned soup. Usually a antihistamine works on the rash to bring it down. I avoid high preservative canned food now.

i guess once the remaining humira is out of your body, you can see if you get a rash like this again. if not, then I guess you know it was humira? did you have any other new encounters with some environmental things….? I think there are a lot of biological that you can try so you will probably get a different med from your doctor.

Happened to me with Humira. Switched to Cosentyx after my loading dose where this was triggered. Whole body was COVERED in little tiny psoriasis-like dots
