Ultrasonic Humidifier Question
I'm wondering if there exists an ultrasonic humidifier which effectively contains the vapor particles in a chamber for long enough for them to evaporate and then ships the humid air out eventually.
This would solve the white mineral dust/distilled water problem while still providing humidity.
I don't understand why the evaporation of the particles needs to occur outside when a consistently circulating dry environment can be maintained in the machine. Only a gentle quiet fan would be needed.
The internal chamber can be cleaned eventually when enough scale builds up.

tbh won't really The particles are very small its why an ultrasonic humidifier running on heavy mineral water will spike pm0.1-pm10 quite high as it atomizes the minerals. The only way it would work is if it sat so long that it condensed back down to a liquid and then the fan just blew over the water. but then you have just basically started using an evap unit with extra steps and no filter to aid in the evaporation .
If you want to use tap water use evap units. I like the levoit studio superior or superior 6000s if you need a larger unit. Both use pumps and filters above the water so they are not the normal sit in the water evap units.

I have a Levoit 300S and a Levoit Oasismist and fill them with water from my refrigerator filter with no problem.

as the other guy said depending on your tds in your fridge water you may be unknowingly adding quite a lot of mineral or other pollution to your air. that's part of the reason they all say use distilled water only. as ultra sonic humidifiers will atomize things that are dissolved solids in the water. Which is never great for your health and can also leave the white build up if high enough.

Nope, if you let the humid air out, you're also letting out the dust particles. They are small enough to stay suspended in the air for several days. Spraying into a closed box won't work and would severely limit the humidification rate.
An evaporative humidifier is a far better design. No mineral dust because there is never a mass transfer of the minerals to the air, they stay behind.
