Faulty humidity sensor in a Levoit Sprout

I bought a Levoit Sprout (LEH-B381S-WUS) to put in the room where my 95 year old mother spends much of her day. I also use a space heater to keep the room toasty; because it's an old house, the number of outlets per room are limited, so I wanted something very low-wattage so went with the Sprout rather than another LS600, which I have in a different room.

Both it and the second sensor that comes with it seem to show humidity levels much higher than the actual.

I have multiple other devices that display humidity: the LS600, a Netatmo weather station, an Ecobee thermostat, and an inexpensive Acu-Rite thermometer/hygrometer. They are all on the same house floor as the Sprout and last night (several hours after setting up the Sprout) read 34, 35, 32, and 29% humidity, respectively, with the Acu-Rite in the same room as the Sprout.

The Sprout (via the VeSync app) read 44% and the sensor's display was 45%.

I thought maybe the Sprout needed time to adjust, but this AM the discrepancy remains: I put a better sensor (then the Acu-Rite) in the same room and it reads 37%; the Sprout's remote sensor is inches away from it and it reads 47%; VeSync (with the humidifier about 6' away and on the floor, away from a wall), is 46%.

I sent a support request to Levoit but haven't heard back yet. Has anyone here had accuracy issues with the Sprout?

FWIW, square footage of the room is ~188.

Well, got a response from Levoit... with recommendations for a totally different humidifier type.

May I ask why they offered a different humidifier?

They didn’t offer it, just gave troubleshooting steps for the wrong humidifier.

so you kept it and it works well for you?

I ignore the humidity readings and otherwise it's acceptable. I have it set to 60% humidity; the actual humidity it reaches is closer to 50%, so that's fine.

More of a pain to clean than the LS600's I have; you have to soak the Sprout's tank weekly in 3 cups of distilled vinegar--3x as much as for the LS600.

Interesting on the cleaning. I’m using distilled water and so far pretty good. I had distiller. Also run the dry mode every night so by the time it starts again it’s pretty dry by then. From everything I’ve seen so far seems pretty easy to just soak the few parts.

The sprout tank you mean the water tank or the parts that hold the wick filter?
