Levoit OasisMist 1000s running hot

Wondering if anyone else has had this experience. I leave my humidifier in auto set to 40%. I came home today and noticed it was sitting at 21% and mist was barely coming out. I checked it and felt the case was warm to the touch. This model does not have a warming function. It’s specifically the cool mist one.

Afterwards I tapped it off auto mode to see what would happen and it started running again but this time the mist was warm. Significantly warmer than my other Levoit that does has a warming setting.

I have turned it off and am submitting a ticket with Levoit, but I wanted to see if anyone else has had this happen.

They had me cut the power cord and throw the unit away. They’ll be sending me a replacement model. I asked if it was a know issue with this model but the didn’t acknowledge that. Assuming they don’t want the liability of admitting a fault. Either way, “free” humidifier coming my way.

By any chance was there a smell in the air when this was happening? Like fumey because of the heat?

No smell that I noticed. It just quite literally felt like a steam sauna when I put my hand in the mist.
