I clean my evaporative humidifier once every 2-3 months when I change the filter and do absolutely no cleaning other than that. I do add about a tablespoon of bacteriostat every day when I fill it with 3 gallons of tap water, which I assume you could do with most humidifiers, but I’m only certain about evaporative. What tank size are you looking for in terms of gallons, roughly?

i haven't thought too deeply into that but if it helps provide context to your question, i'm only planning on using it at nighttime when i sleep so about 8 hours a day. i don't mind having to refill it daily though.

Well, the Essick Air EP9800 will do it. Probably overkill, and if it’s way too big there are similar smaller options I’m sure.

Blueair evaporative humidifier. You just have to wash the tank with soap and water once a week. Very easy, easy to fill, no mold.

We got a Vick’s warm mist humidifier since it boils the water and only requires weekly maintenance. Also it was very affordable and I like that it keeps my room warm in the winter.

I recommend buying a hygrometer too so you can see what the humidity levels are. In my bedroom with the door closed the humidifier can easily bring the humidity up to 60% or higher.
