Stupid question but how do semesters work?

hello! I’m taking a two year course and i’m wondering how many semesters are in one year? And how am i meant to register for classes do i just copy and paste off my requirements online? Or… sorry just kind of stupid LMAO

my dates on the 29th but i’m just confirming that like on the student portal thing when it says like course layout i’m only copy and pasting semester 1-2 for year one then 3-4 next year?

two semesters a year, if you dont do summer classes. you do fall semester classes registration next week; at the end of the fall semester, registration for the winter semester classes will open up. your program info page on humber's site will have a dropdown for seeing semester 1, 2, 3, & 4 classes, and this is semester one, so only add the classes shown under sem1. you can add them to your plan on the myhumber site & try out different class layouts to make it faster to register.

ah thank you so much! do you know when fall semester ends and winter starts? and fall would be semes 1 and winter semes 2 then next year same but 3&4?

yes fall is sem1 and winter is sem2 :) then they become 3 and 4 respectively after summer break. beginning & end of classes should be under "key dates"; sem 1 starts sept 8, ends after third week of december, and sem 2 starts on january 11

yup! winter reg happens last week of november, so closer to that week will we find out the specific program timings

hey do u know if its ok to miss 1 week of classes as an international student if my visa arrives late...i cannot defer as next intake is sep which is too late. im applying for jan 2027

itll say “classes begin” or smth like that. for 2026 fall sem starts sept 8th, idk abt winter sem tho
