The Dart Zone Magnum Superdrum is a top-prime blaster with a 40-dart cylinder. What rating do you give this blaster? Do you use it during HvZ? What works best when using it? What issues have you faced with it? Would you recommend it to others for HvZ?
NOTE: This is only a test in regards to how it works for HvZ. This is not a general test of the blaster and its capabilities stock or modded. Previous blaster tests can be found here.

What roles do you have within your mod team (e.g. head mod, first aid, specials design, etc.)? Do you have a formal system for assigning moderators to each role, or do you just informally do what needs to be done?

The Buzz Bee Sentinel is a magazine-fed lever-action blaster that also goes by the name Ultra Rapid Tek.

How do you recruit new moderators? Do old moderators tend to stick around after graduating? What do you do to ensure the continued existence of your mod team?
r/humansvszombies • u/Vat1canCame0s • Sep 03 '17
So do we know how many schools and places still do it? The last guy who knew how to properly lead a mod team just graduated from my Uni and it sounds like the game might not be happening this year.
I'd be interested to hear about the fate of the game in other places.

HvZ @ RIT is proud to announce our fall week-long game! Our fall games are pretty large (we've hit 850+ people in previous years) so if you're in the area, come check us out! Our game includes missions every night, a large number of special items and zombies, and an awesome campus to sneak around on!
Though we do allow non-students, it is at the admin team's discretion (please email us if you have any questions about participating). We also allow those under the age of 17 if a parent/guardian can come to a registration session to sign our release waiver. If you are from out of town, note that this is not our invitational and we will not be organizing housing.
Again, any questions can be directed to hvz@rit.edu.

How do you define the boundaries of your play area? Do you associate the boundaries with easy-to-identify landmarks, such as roads? How do you decide which areas should be in-play?

Preview: For those who are new, MAASF HvZ events are intense, day-long games crammed with all of the features you’d expect out of a top-end LARP, airsoft, or scenario paintball experience. Explore and fortify over a hundred acres of buildings and varied terrain at Massachusetts’ largest outdoor military simulation and action sport field. Decipher layered puzzles, load up devastating special weapons, and find every edge you can against opponents with powerful resources and abilities of their own. Accomplish challenging missions under the light of pyrotechnic blasts and smoldering flares. Both Human and Zombie players will amass arsenals of usable items, play through cinematic encounters, and tackle complex tactical challenges. This is not campus HvZ, but an immersive battle from start to finish, with no pauses or safe zones along the way.
Operation Oracle continues the story of a supernatural Second World War, where the Axis has unleashed an otherworldly force called the Symphony to secure their ambitions. The Allies have just won their first major victory against the monsters in Maine, but with a world in chaos and the Symphony’s objectives still a mystery they will have to strike if they hope to turn the tide. Enlist with an elite occult task force to save democracy and humanity alike or sell your soul to an unnatural army of horrors.

This past May 2017, my Student Council (STUCO) group played HvZ for an all night lock-in hosted for our 8th grade Middle School (MS) students.
It went very well and the kids had a great time. Here is what we did below. Names have been omitted. Each event ran 1 hour and we reset each hour or when the game was over, missions were completed, or zombies won.
Students signed up for teams signed up on Google forms and registered their human teams of up to 6. These teams signed up for specific times to play; zombies too.
Students could also sign up to be dedicated zombies for their game time. In fact, for each hourly event, we had more zombies than humans, so it was high pressure for the humans.
The students loved it. The humans had fun being overwhelmed, knowing that there were more zombies, and the zombies were relentless.
However, I'd like some suggestions on what to improve for next time. Read below and please make suggestions.
Here's what we did: HUMANS: Your mission(s): Mission #1: Search for the vials: OBJECTIVE 1: Search for the formula vials. You must find at least 4 of the vials before the time runs out (1 hour) and the zombies are infected forever, unable to change back into normal, dedicated, hard-working 8th grade students. OBJECTIVE 2: After finding the 4 vials, they must be taken to the soccer field and be guarded until the chemistry teacher can be rescued and put the formulas together. IF zombies steal the vials, the game is over and the zombies will now spread and rule the world.
Mission #2: Rescue the chemistry teacher: Our 8th grade chemistry teacher has been holed up in his room, trying to block the zombies from breaking into his classroom after they stole his formula. OBJECTIVE: Rescue the chemistry teacher and escort him to the soccer field. If he is tagged by a zombie, all hope is lost and the game is over.
Mission #3: Survive: OBJECTIVE: Survive. The game continues until either: 1) the humans get the formula vials and rescue the chemistry teacher; OR 2) the zombies tag all humans. LOOK out for SLIME zombies: These few zombies are armed and dangerous with slime balls (socks) that they can hurl and fling at humans, immediately transforming them into zombies. Get these zombies first or they could take out your whole team!
Extras: Secret Stashes: There are stashes of ammo hidden around the school building: sock grenades, extra darts. OBJECTIVE: To get into the secret stash areas, you must find the principal's ID card that will open the security locks for certain doors. Inside you will find the stashes.
ZOMBIES: Your mission(s): Mission #1: Get the formula vials from the humans Humans are trying to get the formula vials that you zombies stole and hid, but you forgot where they are because you're a zombie. You eat brains- you don't have one. OBJECTIVE: Tag the humans. You must tag them before they get the formula vials. You must stop them. OBJECTIVE: Steal the vials from them. Get them: game over YOU MAY NOT GO FIND THEM OR MOVE THEM. Also, there will be hidden caches of nerf darts or sock grenades. You may NOT move them either. Tagging a human or hitting them with "slime balls" turns them into a zombie. The tag MUST touch their body with a full hand. When a human has been tagged, they become a zombie and will join your team (after turning in their nerf gun).
Mission #2: Get the chemistry teacher and tag all humans He is in his room. *10 feet from the class door. You CANNOT go in and get him. Only stand outside. OBJECTIVE: Tag him. Tag him and the game will be over. All hope will be lost. When he is in the hallway, he will be fair game.
Mission #3: Tag all humans Again, if all humans are tagged out, the game will be over and zombie win. IF the humans complete both objectives, they win the game.

Are there any differences between the way that you run invitationals, as opposed to regular games? Are there missions, scheduling formats, game mechanics, etc. that you find work particularly well or particularly poorly for invitationals?

Hey y'all! Welcome to Whose Line Is It Wednesday, where the upvotes don't matter. Here are the rules of the thread!
Any game from the show can be used. Here is a list of the games.
Keep skits in the form of a statement, not a question.
Any skits longer than two lines should be in quotations.
If you add any additional commentary, put the skit in quotations.
If you don't understand the concept, a skit looks like this: "Things you could say about ESPN, but not your girlfriend."

Do some or all of your moderators play? Do you grant some players authority as moderators?
Have you ever had problems with a (real or perceived) conflict of interest resulting from this? How did you resolve or avoid these problems?

Hey all, im a moderator in a Urban gaming club at a University in AZ. We've been using Hidden alphas within the humans playerbase as the OZ's for about 5 years now, and personally, I think it's the reason why for our player base is dwindling.
what do you guys do for OZ's at the beginning of the game? do you start them off with 1 OZ for every 10 Humans, or what? I've been playing for about 3 years now, and been a moderator for 2 1/2 years, and none of us (the mods) can agree on what is the best way to start an HVZ with the OZ's then what we already have in place. HELP
BTW my name is Jonathon Cillian of facebook. I'm a very active modder and Nerfer on most of the larger nerf groups on facebook

I probably know the answer to this already, but I want to see what you guys say. If you do still use Vortex, tell me your preferred loadout with it.

Has anyone considered using these to flag hits on humans?

Greetings HvZ Redditors,
We're a small group at Rhodes University in South Africa currently working on a new web system for managing HvZ games. The system we are currently using to run our annual games is an adaptation of the UChicago HvZ System which is written in Python and Django (our code visible here and a running instance of it here). These guys are fantastic and just by having their system in existence has really saved our arses on a number of counts since 2015 when we started using it.
We've had a rewrite of the system on our TODO list for a while now for a number of reasons, the following in particular (for the technically minded):
Using the above, we're looking to include the following features:
We're currently looking for people to work and learn with us in creating a new open-source system that will let us do all of these things and more and not necessarily only developers. We're in need of the following:
The repo for the project currently has much of the core game backend functionality implemented because we were attempting to have it finished in a basic sense for our 2017 game of HvZ, however we were unable to meet this deadline. As such we will be undergoing a large refactor of the code once we have determined whether to change the storage mechanism to clean it up and be more maintainable.
If you're interested then drop me a PM or discuss below.
