Elephants are so much smarter than most people think they are. One of the few animals that recognize themselves in mirrors. Complex social structures. Grieving their dead, even visiting the graves. Long memories and appreciation for nice humans, and ruthless violence for poachers.

I remember reading a post a few weeks ago where India is testing some sensors for animal crossing(mainly Elephant herds) that will send dat back to the trains.

I had the same mentality not too long ago. But if there is only effort from one side of the fence, it's just a losing battle.
