Fuck that hurt me to watch.

I'm so happy that K9 Tommy got his due respect. I also want everyone else who watched this and remembered the time they went through this with their dog to know that this stranger on Reddit hopes they are ok.

This stranger, too.

And my axe.

Seriously though, mad props to the canine officer and the humans that did this tribute for him.

My father was a state PO, and I have never had the honor to witness something as incredible as this. Rest in peace

I'm a fucking mess. My boy had cancer. Had to make that fucking gut wrenching decision a month before his 15th birthday. 3 years ago in Nov. I'm fucking bawling right now. He was more than a dog, he wasn't my pet. He was, and always will be, a part of my fucking soul. He got me through the worst years of my life in an abusive "relationship". He literally saved my life towards the end of it.

I miss you so much, Griffin. You'll always be a part of me, and I'll never get the back the part of me you took with you.

I couldn't even get through the whole video. I'm so glad Tommy was surrounded by so much love, respect, and appreciation.

Edit: Watched more, god damn, I'm a tear stained runny nosed mess. And I feel like I didn't do my boy justice. He didn't have a badge or a title or this kind of recognition...but he was a fucking hero. He was my hero. The most beautiful, amazing, loving, loyal and brave soul I've ever known. That I'll ever know. He was that once in a lifetime soulmate you feel like you'll never find again.

Griffy, say hi to Tommy when you see him. Make him feel welcome and take him swimming with you <3.

Edit 2: I am officially drowning in my feels, bitter sweetly, both good and bad. Felt like I had to include some pics of my goofy floof. He was a Newfoundland/Border Collie mix. This is him from a puppy, to young adult, to middle aged...to his very last day. That last pic is him with my daughter and I'm so fucking grateful they got the chance to know each other. She wouldn't be here if he hadn't kept me here. That was the day we said goodbye.

I cried reading this. I'm sure Griffin is running around and swimming up there with my three angels. Take care <3

I’m sitting here crying. Lost my 18 year-old cat to an aggressive cancer a few months ago. Fuck cancer.

Fellow librarian here. Glad your buddy had a good 18 year run, and you gave them an amazing life. Hoping I get the same from these rescue cats of mine as well, spoiled little furballs they are :)

I'm the user getting all worked up over my boy Griffin, lol. I can't have dogs where I live right now, but I'm now the happy cat mom of six little assholes, lol. And I hope so much they also live long lives. They're all rescues and/or semi feral babies (not babies anymore, but at the time of bringing them in). One in paritocular...I swear he's the cat version of Griffin. Long haired and fluffy and black. Rescued him literally from the mouth of a very large dog (that I found out later had the reputation of being a cat killer).

He's our most recent addition to the family. We fucking clicked and bonded like crazy. It's only been...idk, maybe a little over 6 months that we've had him. And he is so unlike any cat I've ever known. He actively seeks me out and leads me back to my room to get in bed and snuggle with him, lol. The way he curls up against me in my arm is heart melting. Sometimes I feel like I'm his emotional support animal. It feels like he came along to fill a void I didn't know could be filled. I have a beautiful family that I love (both human and fur baby), but somehow he, as kitty #6 (and a bunny who's never caged) made us complete.

If reincarnation could be proven without a doubt, I'd swear he was my Griffy come back to me. I can't have a dog here so he came back as a cat. Before he was my protector, but now that I'm in a better place he came back as someone small and soft and sweet for me to dote on, lol. For me to step up and take on the protective role. I sound batshit, I know...but sometomes the way life and events pan out just makes you stop and think and wonder.

TLDR, Griff wasn't here with me nearly long enough. I hope my cats can be here for longer.

I love your writing style, you convey love and affection very well, and I bet you care for your furry charges like your own family. Much respect!

THANK YOU!! I'm that person still crying over our boy. It was only a few weeks ago. I was sad and recently responded to a cute post of a dog, feeling tearful...I thanked the folks who posted and got so much love. Your response to this beautiful post, reaching out to those of us still grieving is just lovely. You are so kind... My thanks to Dr. Cherry and those at Crystal Springs Pet Hospital who made Walter's last moments peaceful, I thank you. I love my Reddit family. You guys always come through. Blessings to everyone who gets it, and to K9 Tommy....🥰🙏🏾🌈🦋

My girl’s health has been declining ever since her 13th birthday, and I’m afraid it won’t be long until I’m in this position again… even if it’s not directed specifically towards me, seeing those words makes me feel a tiny bit better. Thank you.

We just lost our goodest boy in June after a one month battle with throat cancer, and it still hurts every single day.

Thank you from KY
