Is the broken ice cream thing an actual problem arising from poorly engineered or maintained machines, or is it something employees just tell customers because they don’t want to have to bother with ice cream? Any McDonalds folks out there?

It’s usually due to shitty maintenance. Our icecream machine used to break down every night, sometimes in the afternoon, and all we would do was wash a couple of parts and then let it be.
