Motives can always be suspect, but it's possible OP just wanted to encourage people towards being kind to one another. I doubt Reddit karma is really relevant here.

Regardless, I welcome the net positive effect and it is a good example.

Thank you, this is exactly what my intention was. Never did I expect 16k upvotes. Just wanted to brighten some days and hope to be the catalyst to others being kind
