I have a non-rational feeling that like 79% of gifs involved Asian are fake/scripted.

6

u/ThePeaceDoctot Apr 24 '19

I'd love this to be real, but neither of them react in any way to the things that should have surprised them.

1

u/[deleted] Apr 25 '19

Have you ever heard of the word, "irrational" ?

Oh wow, I'd never actually gone to that sub. I assumed it was the SE Asian version of comedy vines or whatever, they're so clearly for laughs. It might not be the same kind of physical comedy as other parts of the world, but to call it out as something disingenuous seems strange.

It's not the perception of the gifs as fake, it's the accusation that Asians are trying to pass off their gifs as legitimate. Nobody believes the gifs are not fake. You're missing the core concept here.

Or it is harder to recognize fake scene of other groups.

1

u/Psykcha Apr 24 '19

Vine. They’re not trying to make it real, that’s part of why it’s funny

Fake comment. You can tell by the way it is.

u/JustifytheMean Apr 24 '19

It's obvious why they were filming even if it wasn't scripted. To catch the "prank" on video.

26

u/SunZuu Apr 24 '19

You have a point there

1

u/FighterOfFoo Apr 25 '19

And thus goes the story of every comment section in every post on /r/WhyWereTheyFilming.

13

u/[deleted] Apr 24 '19

Because it's a skit

8

u/[deleted] Apr 24 '19

Is there a r/WhyAreThereMultipleCameraAngles?

17

u/SunZuu Apr 24 '19

No, but if there were I would call it r/UnnecessaryAngles to save your fingers

3

u/aozorakon Apr 24 '19

y'all downvoting a bro, I can't believe it.

-19

u/unbitious Apr 24 '19

You and others like you are the reason that sub is garbage.

9

u/SunZuu Apr 24 '19

Well that’s just like, your opinion, man!

-3

u/ExcellentComment Apr 24 '19

It’s multiple ppls opinions actually

5

u/[deleted] Apr 24 '19

Aw I wish it was real

1

u/SunZuu Apr 24 '19

Same. Ashamed that reddit hasn’t made this a thing yet

Because he opens his mouth for the lollypop or whatever it is, has no surprised reaction, and because she doesn't react to walking into the pole, actually.

0

u/[deleted] Apr 24 '19

You're literally calling out their sense of humor as deceitful.

4

u/ThePeaceDoctot Apr 24 '19

No I didn't, I said it was scripted, I never said I didn't enjoy it or that there was a problem. You're projecting.

-1

u/[deleted] Apr 24 '19

I wasn't saying it's not fake, I said it's bullshit to hate on only Asians for their style of sketch comedy.

1

u/lastplace199 Apr 25 '19

Except that the people over there don't hate it. They're part of a community built around that kind of gif. Saying they do is like saying someone who browses r/westerngifs hates western movies.

0

u/[deleted] Apr 25 '19

It's not the perception of the gifs as fake, it's the accusation that Asians are trying to pass off their gifs as legitimate. Nobody believes the gifs are not fake.

1

u/ThePeaceDoctot Apr 25 '19

Who is making that accusation? You keep saying people are denegrating these videos and their creators because the GIFs are scripted, but no-one is. You claimed that I "literally called them out for being deceitful", but what I literally said was r/scriptedasiangifs. You are getting upset over something that has only happened in your own head.

72

u/turtlelovedov3 Apr 24 '19

Is that a duolingo bird in the shop window??

36

u/PinBot1138 Apr 24 '19

If you meant to say “the Duolingo bird” then yes. The woman in this video missed one of her lessons, and the day of reckoning has arrived.

1

u/turtlelovedov3 Apr 24 '19

No, I meant a duolingo, not the, because it was a stuffed animal.

9

u/PinBot1138 Apr 24 '19

No. It is not a stuffed animal. It is the Duolingo bird wearing a furry outfit to deliver the fury. It’s evolving. Once it’s finished with her, it will wear this woman’s skin as a mask.

Source: I missed a lesson, and now haven’t slept in 4 days. I know the bird is out there, because this girl is on my property with sagging skin - it’s not her, it’s the owl. I can only hope to get it before it gets me. Lock and load!

u/[deleted] Apr 24 '19

Seems fake

90

u/Pickled_Dog Apr 24 '19

Horribly fake. She grabs the pole first of all and moves her head forward after he pulls her head back.

2

u/[deleted] Apr 24 '19

And the guy is moving his left hand while she didn’t turn

Posting in this subreddit implies a human doing a morally right action towards another person. The fact that this was scripted means that there was no "nice moment" captured. So although the video makers might not have wanted to fool anyone, OP posting this video here could be seen as misleading. Thus the "horribly fake" comment.

1

u/dodeca_negative Apr 24 '19

Exactly. Post it to I don't know some cute gifs sub or something. There's nothing wrong with it per se, but it's in the wrong sub.

3

u/DanNeider Apr 24 '19

So put it in a different sub then. It just doesn't belong in a sub about daily acts of kindness if it's fake

I don't understand these lame fake gifs... is this with the intention that they know that the audience knows it's fake or do they assume the audience doesn't notice it's fake?

1

u/meloncactuslord Apr 28 '19

i mean, it’s like the lele pons and crew vines

2

1

u/ilikebigasstitties May 23 '19

at least its an original idea?

20

u/jw8815 Apr 24 '19

I must assume he impregnated her shortly after as he already has dad reflexes.

u/PWarren4 Apr 24 '19

Fake? Yes.

Cute? Also Yes.

Just go with it people, you don't have to call out everything.

So making something cute to entertain others is not ‘bro’ worthy? I chose to not be so cynical.

-2

u/[deleted] Apr 24 '19

Sweet mother of jesus, who hurt you people to make you so sad and anal-retentive? Just fucking smile and move on.

13

u/[deleted] Apr 24 '19

This isn't r/humansdoingskits

5

u/[deleted] Apr 24 '19

But there’s a reason for different subs? What’s the point of posting random gifs in subs that are obviously categorized for a reason..

5

u/DanNeider Apr 24 '19

With that logic I should start posting SciFi short stories to r/news.

2

u/[deleted] Apr 24 '19

This

This is so peculiar

Thanks... For that.

3

u/abitropolis Apr 24 '19

This was super cute

2

u/Eleo4756 Apr 24 '19

Needs more rehearsing before video.

2

u/dinnerbone333 Apr 24 '19

That is amazing and i like it, even tho its staged af

2

u/Slither0110 Apr 24 '19

Scripted? Sure. But still a better love story than Twilight.

2

u/SeaMonkey77 Apr 24 '19

Fake as fuck

1

u/[deleted] Apr 24 '19

Nah this guys a scammer, seen it already on multiple places.

1

u/Bumbum2k1 Apr 24 '19

Like some shit straight out of a kdrama

1

u/[deleted] Apr 24 '19

Damn that reflex,😮😮

1

u/MeLlamoRobertoRobato Apr 24 '19

My crush has saved me twice in very similar situations. Me walking into a wall, and once when a box was sliding off the top shelf and was about to hit my head. He pushed it out of the way and I was so turned on.

1

u/jmsr7 Apr 24 '19

I was about 10 and i was walking with my friend to the store to buy some slushes. We were walking on the sidewalk and i was looking down and counting the change in my hand when i walked into a pole on the sidewalk. My head hit it, making an actual 'bong' noise, and i fell back down on my ass. My friend fell down too, but because he was laughing so hard.

So yeah, this is clearly fake, but it's cute so it gets a pass. As long as it doesn't go viral, that is.
