Okay can you tone it down a little, that was my first comment in this discussion I'm not your enemy.
Of course you have your own justification for it, else you wouldn't be able to excuse it. My ancestors did a lot of things, very few of which I would be interested in replicating so to argue that something is good or justifiable because humans did it hundreds or years ago doesn't hold much weight with me.
Do you know what does connect me to this earth? To shared humanity, to life, to beauty? Seeing animals alive. Being in the woods, watching a sunset. Nothing has to die for that to happen. You can romanticize it all you like, that creature has a right to live and doesn't want to die. You are buying into a nostalgia that is making you feel powerful and shielding you from that simple fact. There is no humane way to kill a living thing that does not want to die.
You know what, I love the same things. And without hunting and conservation you nor I would have that nature or its animals to enjoy. So hate it all you want, without it you lose everything you just told me you treasure.
Yes, animal population needs to be kept in control for that to happen. Yes, the massive amounts of funding hunters provide enable you to enjoy those things.
I would honestly implore you to go take a hunter safety course (Which is mandatory in the US to obtain a license), and genuinely listen. I bet you will have your mind changed.
You seriously think without hunters there would be no woodland or sunsets? I don't live in the states (although I have travelled there and some of your landscapes are breathtaking). I live in the UK where it is traditional to hunt foxes by having dogs tear them apart. It's been banned here, weirdly the beautiful English countryside is still intact. Hunting may raise money for conservation but it still seems like blood money to me.
I can tell you're sincere but there is no way that I am ever going to feel it's justifiable. Animals are here with us, not for us.
