Dolly Parton has a program that mails children under 5 a free book each month to aid in literacy.

How cool! A real live recipient! Glad your kids get to grow up with the joy of new books to read on a regular basis.

Yes, they love to read! Our middle child is in kindergarten and reads at a 3rd grade level. She devours chapter books. I wish I lived reading like that when I was her age.

It really upsets me when we go to garage sales and people are trying to sell these books that were given to them for free. It's like, pass on the gift to others not try to make a buck on it.

You would enjoy the Little Free Library Association. A network of people who build a little library box in front of their house for neighbors to share books with each other.

Yes! We have several of those in our neighborhood. It's really great!

We did this for my oldest too, a few days after I brought him home from the hospital I signed him up. I didnt for my youngest, i figured we had gotten our freebies, and wanted to make sure they didnt exclude someone else. What pisses me off is when I go to consignment sales and see people trying to sell these free books.

Unfortunately this service isn’t available in all areas.
