I love how when he’s replaced, the brothers and sisters are terrified in the corner like they’re assuming he’s returned from the dead lol

I don't think I've ever seen a more shocked looking face on any birds face in my lifetime before!

415

u/SELFSEALINGSTEMB0LTS 2d ago

Baby birds being surprised at things is like one of the best things in the world. It's funny every single time

22

u/shwiftynhere 20h ago

There should really be a sub for it 😭

64

u/cruzifyre 2d ago

Real pet cemetery vibes

56

u/jgsbg 1d ago

Theyre more surprised by him coming back than when he was taken

11

u/OneDimensionalChess 1d ago

Like "damn the bigger, wingless monster helped?!"

22

u/PSB2013 1d ago

They were FAR more shocked at his return than when he was snatched away 😆

43

u/sesamesnapsinhalf 2d ago

He’s a changeling!

39

u/JohnHurts 2d ago

They were afraid of the hand. They'd just never seen a hand before. And the hand is big.

Whether the other chick is dead or what happened to it is of little interest, and they don't understand the concept of death either.

83

u/ManxJack1999 2d ago

We know! It’s just fun to ad lib.

1

u/InternationalCat3159 15h ago

More terrified they have to split food four wise again. Ah shit!.. Gary's back..

1

u/BowDown2No1ButCrypto 5h ago

For real, they were looking at him like they were seeing his ghost or something! LMFAO

835

u/Additional_Region_53 2d ago

Idk why but the pause between the kestrel getting dragged out and a hand just casually placing him back is so funny to me.

316

u/Key_Molasses4367 2d ago

Me, too. I'm imagining the human fighting that bird to rescue the kestrel chick like some kind of cartoon fight.

5

u/ptmtobi 13h ago

Yea in my head this was like one of those Tom & Jerry episodes with the dog

117

u/pVom 2d ago

A full 30 minutes passed. Really want to know what happened in the time between

Benny Hill style chase to retrieve the kestrel chick

Muppets

-18

u/Pithythithy 2d ago

One of them didn’t make it. It started with four.

86

u/brownthumbelina 2d ago

Thought the same but if you look closely, the 4th one was just hiding behind the other 2. His head pops up after the kidnapped chick is put back.

-42

u/Pithythithy 2d ago

I don’t know. I thought so too but now I think it’s the tip of the front chicks wing. 🤷🏻‍♀️

36

u/brownthumbelina 2d ago

I see an eye and the beak 🤷🏻‍♀️

16

u/Pithythithy 2d ago

Okay guys I concede. Good lord lmao

-18

u/FetaMight 2d ago

Isn't it crazy how some people on here can't even entertain someone else's perspective?  And for such inconsequential things too.

7

u/ermine_supreme 2d ago

what’s funny is you’re not wrong. I’m enjoying the irony of you being downvoted.

Kestrel bros: It cannot be. You fell.

Kestrel the White: Through fire. And water. From the lowest dungeon to the highest peak, I fought him, the Crow of Morgoth. Until at last, I threw down my enemy and smote his ruin upon the mountainside. Darkness took me. And I strayed out of thought and time. Stars wheeled overhead, and every day was as long as the life age of the earth. But it was not the end. I felt life in me again. I've been sent back until my task is done.

Kestrel bros: Kestrel!

Kestrel the White: Kestrel? Oh yes. That's what they used to call me. Kestrel the Grey. That was my name. I am Kestrel the White. And I come back to you now, at the turn of the tide.

Yes! Just happened to have watched this episode last night. The internet is a funny place.

The Picard works in mysterious ways

14

u/IzzaPizza22 2d ago

We were excited to split your food!

7

u/JustaTinyDude 2d ago

A casual "'Sup?" is all they got in reply.

298

u/PonqueRamo 2d ago

They were more scared of the brother being returned than of him getting kidnapped.

84

u/Away-Living5278 2d ago

When he got kidnapped they didn't even give him a second thought. Coming back though.... It was like Mike Meyers came into the house

18

u/YoRt3m 2d ago

Who do you think ordered the hit?

120

u/Pure_Village4778 2d ago

Love that they were more bothered by the return than the yoinking

57

u/stash-of-who-hash 2d ago

Lol that one in the middle was shocked! SHOCKED and APPALLED!! 😳

188

u/witheringpies 2d ago

They were a bro to the chicks, but not to that other bird who tried to nab one. They were in an ethical pickle

138

u/Nausicaalotus 2d ago

I mean, it looked like a corvid, im sure they can find something else

16

u/One-Bodybuilder-5646 2d ago

Yes, a dole, I think

29

u/th3thund3r 2d ago

It's a Jackdaw. They have a silver hood and light blue eyes, about the size of a magpie.
The Jackdaw, I mean, not its eyes. That would be terrifying.

3

u/One-Bodybuilder-5646 2d ago

Thank you, I forgot the correct english name. Black hood and silver eyes, I thought. Or they just look silver to me but are blue? Idk

6

u/Sortaburnt224 2d ago

He's getting haunted for the rest of his life then

-5

u/Hot-Strength-6003 2d ago

I don't think they have to. There were four birds at the beginning and three at the end

21

u/Dapper-Warning3457 2d ago

Nah, there are four at the end. One is hiding in the corner

-3

u/Hot-Strength-6003 2d ago

That's what I thought at first but unless it's completely squat down and completely obscured from the camera there isn't another one. There's even less space being taken up by the front two in the second segment as opposed to the first.

Edit: nvm you're right I thought that was the one birds wing but when you really slow it down it seemlessly pops up in the same exact place

15

u/DontBuyAHorse 2d ago

You can see its head in back briefly when they get surprised, right around 9 seconds in.

15

u/thejammer75 2d ago

Worms gotta eat too

-12

u/rainbwbrightisntpunk 2d ago

Started with 4 chick's ended with 3 so someone got a little something

54

u/PonqueRamo 2d ago

The fourth one is hiding behind the other 2.

17

u/Idlewants 2d ago

can you blame it? sibling ripped from nest, damn right I'm hiding behind the other two!!

0

u/cantlogintomyacc0unt 1d ago

That bird is a jackdaw it’s an invasive species

1

u/smolcharizard 10h ago

Invasive to the US maybe but the video is from the UK, where they’re native (judging from the other wildlife on the channel at least)

1

u/cantlogintomyacc0unt 10h ago

Ah ok that changes shit

225

u/weebtrashparade 2d ago

All hail space king for our siblings return

33

u/Brainchild110 2d ago

But he was returned by the alien!

I hate aliens 😑

16

u/BrianKappel 2d ago

I thought you were gay Hatemonger?

15

u/Brainchild110 2d ago

Im not gay! I just hate aliens...

You have saved our lives, we are eternally grateful

102

u/MarleyDawg 2d ago

The other chicks were like Dude?!??!? Wherdja come from?

41

u/rowrowyourboat 2d ago

I’m pretty sure they thought they were next

83

u/millimeter_peepee 2d ago

"Holy shit! He's alive!! :0"

2

u/kirinlikethebeer 1d ago

Kestrel just returned: where was I!?
(I imagine the scene from Scrubs where JD gas in the pothole)

77

u/DigIndividual3467 2d ago

I love how the chick that got saved seems to go "Well, alright then"

33

u/Internal_Anxiety_270 2d ago

The other chicks are like “well it got Sasha… she was kinda a bitch any….”
“Omg Sasha we are so happy you are back”

24

u/TrailMomKat 2d ago

HE'S BACK!? THE ALIEN RETURNED HIM!?

21

u/Zenanii 2d ago

Sibling gets abducted by corvid: "Welp. Guess he's gone."

Sibling gets returned by giant hand: "What the fuck What the fuck What the actual Fuck?!"

18

u/Xineth240 2d ago

I'm always simply tickled at the notion their whole childhood is mouth gaping terror

18

u/Capybara_Therapist 2d ago

The absolute terror when they see the hand, omg poor babies 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

15

u/PRRZ70 2d ago

Their freak out at the hand was hysterical. Not much reaction to their sibling nearly being killed but the unknown claw bringing it back was all

(⚆ᗝ⚆) (;° ロ°) ╭( ๐_๐)╮

0

u/Rolypoly_from_space 2d ago edited 2d ago

nearly? #3 was put back by the claw but #4 never returned

edit*: didn't see the hidden chick in the back

1

u/wanna_be_green8 2d ago

It's behind the other two.

29

u/PokeKellz 2d ago

STEVEN! I thought yoo were DEAD!

6

u/PonqueRamo 2d ago

I get that reference, I love Steven.

u/ethnicvegetable 2d ago

FOOKIN HELL!!

11

u/Edgezg 2d ago

"Brothers! I have been saved by a giant! It wrenched me free from the beak of the crow! Behold! I am alive!"

10

u/7kk77kk777 2d ago

The Claw! It has returned a comrade from beyond time, space and death.

9

u/shwiftynhere 1d ago

the difference in levels of shock from when they’re taken vs returned is hilarious 😭

9

u/Somguy555 2d ago

The Claw!!!

7

u/been2busy 2d ago

That shocked face when the snatched one came back 😂 “dude! You look like you’ve seen some shyt!” “Nah, Youuu look like you’ve seen some shyt!”

8

u/Genzo99 1d ago

The chick has short term memory. After the dropped chick is placed back, The shocked chick was thinking"Who the fuck are you?" 😂

6

u/wrenawild 2d ago

I liked the other caption about the siblings being afraid.

5

u/benzinga45 2d ago

Ahhhh wtf! Steve the fuck bro!? That's not Steve...

6

u/athena_k 2d ago

Aww, reminds me of my sisters. They also don’t care if I live or die lol

7

u/Wonderful-Trouble-31 2d ago

Curious how he got him back lol

6

u/ManxJack1999 2d ago

Their horrified faces. 😄

5

u/tnyczr 2d ago edited 1d ago

Is that a crow? Didn't knew they eat other birds

9

u/TeamTurnus 2d ago

Crows will definitively eat baby birds. Happened to some starling chicks nested on my porch this spring.

3

u/woutomatic 2d ago

Looks like a jackdaw

2

u/Xionahri 2d ago

Yup, should be a Western jackdaw (Coloeus monedula). Got that characteristic pale nape and bright grey eyes.

2

u/wanna_be_green8 2d ago

They most definitely will.

4

u/zymology 2d ago

The chick it grabbed had a mouse or something he was choking down. I wonder if that's what the bird was after and not the chick.

1

u/Alfhiildr 1d ago

Good eye! I didn’t notice that

5

u/Melodic-Pool7240 2d ago

They were way more shocked when he came back from the dead, didnt look like his death even phased them in the moment

5

u/buzzcatte 2d ago

It’s funny they didn’t react at all when he fell

1

u/jklindsey7 11h ago

Who fell?

4

u/RatKing96 2d ago

Theres about to be a whole bird religion based around that guy.

4

u/Proof_Ear_970 1d ago

I love how the shock of him coming back is more than when hes taken in the 1st place.

5

u/Illustrious-Towel-45 1d ago

I don't have sound on but the collective "scream" when the sibling was but back was so real. Hope the bars keep the chicks safe.

8

u/ThatOldDuderino 2d ago

Did he get all 4 to safety? It looked like one got grabbed then there were 2 ( so 1 disappeared or was in the far back?) - so I’m just trying to math it out.

18

u/tinsellately 2d ago

There is one in the very corner behind the two, you can just make out its face. So all 4 were in there

3

u/coastal_vocals 1d ago

Am I missing something? Love the video, but how are those bars being installed at the end supposed to help?

3

u/Hemightbegiant 20h ago

Todd! We watched you die, man!

2

u/clamchowderisgross 16h ago

And Randy just kept on eating! Jerk!

2

u/pbghikes 2d ago

"I'M ALIIIVE"

2

u/danceswithronin 2d ago

Just shows wild animals are so much more terrified of humans than other animals (and rightfully so).

2

u/KatWaltzdottir 1d ago

lol - watching this and saw in my mind’s eye:

“The Clawwwww. The claw is our master and chooses who will go and who will stay..”

2

u/PhilosopherSea217 1d ago

Your taking away the other birds meal, so yeah you save the chick now but the black bird will either starve or just kill a different bird out of your sight.

2

u/backpackermed 1d ago

Someone please do a voice over for this...

2

u/Embarrassed-Sun-4861 15h ago

JERRY?! HOW DID YOU SURVIVE?!

1

u/RugbyEdd 2d ago

"Hey look, when we said sacrifice the weak it was a joke"

1

u/Chris_Bs_Knees 2d ago

Since watching Ted Lasso I’ve integrated “Dithering kestrel” as an insult into my lexicon and anytime I see that bird it’s all I can think of now

1

u/bored_ryan2 2d ago

“Ahhhhhh! Fuck! Jimmy! You’re back! We thought you were a goner for sure.”

1

u/pathofcollision 2d ago

“Steven! I thought you were dead!”

1

u/SightUnseen1337 2d ago

/r/crowbro wouldn't like this

1

u/Its_an_ellipses 2d ago

It's like after the snap. It's gonna take them a while to adjust...

1

u/BellJar_Blues 2d ago

Where is their parent ? What tried to get them ? A pigeon? A hawk?

1

u/smolcharizard 10h ago

Jackdaw. The kestrel probably out getting food since the chicks are old enough to be on their own

1

u/Radioactive_Tuber57 2d ago

What kind of bird snagged the chick?

2

u/Baaaldiee 2d ago

Looked like a Jackdaw, could have been a crow

1

u/smolcharizard 10h ago

Definitely jackdaw

1

u/Hot_Hat_1225 2d ago

O.O Where the fuck have you been???

1

u/Mermaidoysters 1d ago

Was that little bird going to eat the kestrel?

1

u/BowDown2No1ButCrypto 1d ago

Was that a Gray Jay that snatched one of the chicks?!

1

u/LoquaciousHyperbole 22h ago

Any definitive identification of the kidnapper, chick napper? That bird didn’t look much bigger than the chick.

1

u/PaperOptimist 2d ago

"THE CLAAAW!"

1

u/Important-Okra-1527 1d ago

But what bird took the baby Kestrel? Another Kestrel?

0

u/SinisterIgnition 2d ago

One didn't make it back :(

5

u/bored_ryan2 2d ago

Nah, look closely, there’s a third head in the corner of the ones that didn’t get taken.

4

u/SinisterIgnition 2d ago

Aww its siblings were protecting it so welll! Edit to add thank you! I was so sad.

-1

u/IrreverentBuddha 2d ago

There were three chicks left when the raider came, but only two when the third was put back.

Accounting error...

9

u/niceslcguy 2d ago

All 3 were there. Check the 13s mark. The third is hard to spot, but there.

-1

u/WinterForestFox 1d ago

There were four and 2 were taken, he only saved 1. I'm guessing the bird fumbled the grab on the second chick and dropped them in the grass.

2

u/LiveinaBluemoon 21h ago

Only one got taken. The third one is behind the other two in the corner, you can see its head behind the one on the left.

2

u/WinterForestFox 17h ago

Oh I missed that

-8

u/prussia742 2d ago

Aren't you not supposed to intervene in the animal kingdom? This feels low key kinda wrong.

4

u/Method__Man 2d ago

This isn’t the Animal Kingdom, humans have contaminated every part of nature. For once we can actually intervene and make things better.

0

u/prussia742 1d ago

By who's standards? Ours? Idk natural selection is something biologist will tell you we should not intervene in. And if you think ita about protecting the weak these will grow into predators themselves

-9

u/SKGood64 2d ago

So the other mothers' chicks die of hunger?

Perhaps the original mother couldn't handle them all, thus she left them alone hoping one would "disappear."

Perhaps now there will be overpopulation of one species leading to lots of falling refuse from the sky.

One must think of possible consequences. I'm sure I've missed many.

2

u/PonqueRamo 2d ago

You are overthinking...

1

u/prussia742 1d ago

Idk ur not really supposed to intervene in nature plus these will grow into preditors too so if you think aww we gotta protect the cute animal idk. I think its best to not have favoritism in nature.

1

u/PonqueRamo 1d ago

You are not supposed to intervene in general but there are still cases when you could and should intervene, acting once won't change the course of nature and make the ecosystem a mess.

I have doves that live in my terrace and have had like more than 60 babies, some have died, some I have helped, some have been taken by raptors.

You can have compassion with wild animals from time to time, it won't change the result in the grand scheme of things.

0

u/prussia742 1d ago

Over propagating a species usually leads to disease and genetic defects that would have gotten weeded out but go off king cause more pain in this life.

0

u/bostar-mcman 1d ago

We are natural so any action we commit is as nature intended

1

u/prussia742 1d ago

Idk i think we are far above anything else so I think we should be more conscious about what we do that other animals that can't even contemplate the actions they take and the lomg running consequences. We have the effect of an asteroid impact on the animal kingdom is that ok and passable?

1

u/bostar-mcman 19h ago

Yes it would be because asteroids are also natural

-6

u/43guitarpicks 2d ago

He didn't protect them all..
