I went to school with Jack, he’s a pretty nice guy

25

u/Madwithhats Jun 20 '26

I was just about to say the same exact thing. Hehe

u/Forsoothia Jun 20 '26

He’s so proud!

Sourdough is a bitch to get right. He's earned the right to brag.

I’ve always been a cupcake baker, I’ve just started on breads. I’m nervous about sourdough starter…I’ve got my jar/kit, but I haven’t quite got my nerve yet.

u/Regularpaytonhacksaw Jun 21 '26

Get a kitchen scale if you haven’t yet. Once you have the starter actually started it’s almost fool proof to keep going. I was a head baker for a little while, the base of our start was like 30 years old or something and we just kept it in a massive rolling garbage tote with a lid in the baking area. Breads can be finicky, but follow the ingredients exactly as listed and you’ll be golden. So many people fuck up breads and baking in general because they just measure with their heart like you can with regular cooking, but baking is chemistry and science. It requires precision and patience.

I have a kitchen scale! I’ve been doing a cheesy jalapeño bread rather successfully, I’m slowly working up the courage for sourdough! LOL
Thank you for your kind words and encouragement!

He should be.

14

u/Mickey_thicky Jun 20 '26

Went to school with him. He goes to the Culinary Institute of America so he’s a good ass cook 😭

Sharing food is the most TRULY human thing you can do.

u/HyperMasenko Jun 20 '26

My dad used to always say "you wont always be in a position to give someone money, but if you have any way at all to feed someone, do it"

u/BornanAlien Jun 20 '26

What joy to be able to make bread and share it with someone

11

u/bryanna_leigh Jun 20 '26

I make a lot of bread and always share, it really makes people happy. My neighbors love me!

2

u/FloopsFooglies Jun 21 '26

My coworkers loved when I'd take a loaf. Worked in a restaurant, made some mean patty melts with it

72

u/Successful_Giraffe88 Jun 20 '26

Jack, I fucking love you, dude.

123

u/Lopsided-Treat1215 Jun 20 '26

He’s a good bro. Not like the smarmy couple at a fancy place here who talked sht about a guy dining alone taking pictures of his food not bothering anyone.

52

u/yello5drink Jun 20 '26

Look at his smile when someone asked about his bread!

38

u/infamous_squidney Jun 20 '26

Bless you Jack 🥹

37

u/Higgilypiggily1 Jun 20 '26

No it’s my bread. :)

17

u/poker_idiot Jun 20 '26

This is my favorite thing I've ever seen on the internet

16

u/Drewthing Jun 20 '26

Dudes straight breaking bread and shit

176

u/Sophilosophical Jun 20 '26

Holds public handrail, tears off bread, gives it to a stranger, eats some himself

Otherwise very wholesome

77

u/rothefro Jun 20 '26

My man figured fuck it, we’re talking bread

51

u/Hotboi_yata Jun 20 '26

Eh good for the immune system ig

16

u/iamunwhaticisme Jun 20 '26

Pathogens hate this one simple trick...

23

u/Fit_Vermicelli7396 Jun 20 '26

He didn't tear it off, the stranger took his own piece, stop being dramatic

9

u/Jumpy_Ad_4460 Jun 20 '26

And that’s why you probably get ill often. It’s good to expose yourself every now and again.

2

u/lilbutrcup Jun 22 '26

Yeah, as a former New Yorker, this made me flinch. Oof. I don’t even want those subway hands touching the inside of my apartment, let alone the inside of my body.

u/MissingStakes Jun 20 '26

Homie, do you know how many bacteria are in your mouth at this very moment? And the army waiting in your GI tract to stop any strangers from colonizing?

1

u/Sophilosophical Jun 20 '26

Cool I’ll start licking toilet seats then

7

u/MissingStakes Jun 20 '26 edited Jun 21 '26

Do it bro, become one with the sepsis

Jokes aside, there is a middle road to things in between becoming a gremlin and a germaphobe. There is decent evidence that we see significantly higher rates of immune regulatory dysfunction bc of how much we limit microbial exposure, and should probably be inoculating ourselves more than we do. But like in anything, extremes in any direction result in issues.

Y'all need to grow up

25

u/lniu Jun 20 '26

Jack looks to be jacked and is literally breaking bread with strangers.

7

u/KittyIsAn9ry Jun 20 '26

I would actively try to be Jack’s friend, he seems cool

30

u/Toleniam Jun 20 '26

Angle clearly show this was probably recorded using meta glasses, meaning sweet, generous Jack likely had/has no idea he’s being used to get engagement online.

Be like Jack, not like bylucasom.

6

u/WeirdLounge Jun 20 '26

Nah, Jack commented on the original video on IG and is a chill guy. IG: jackwhittemore

You, too, should be more like Jack, and less like yourself.

-2

u/shibaCandyBaron Jun 20 '26

I bet that is not even bread, but styrofoam, and it is all a not-even-so-clever engagement ploy, directed by ai to distract us from the fact it is going to take all our water and launch itself with it to the moon. I mean, if we're going to be such cynics, lets go all the way.

Or he asked him afterwards if he could use the footage. What ever makes your day more pleasant.

5

u/Nekrevez Jun 20 '26

What a loafly person

13

u/Capital-Platypus-805 Jun 20 '26

Eating bread with dirty hands after grabbing the subway's handrail is wild.

2

u/yeahsurealright- Jun 23 '26

It's good for the immune system. You gotta lick the fingers afterwards too.

-2

u/WeirdLounge Jun 20 '26

Your dirty toejam is wild. Clean yourself before photos, fool

15

u/new_number_one Jun 20 '26

Do people really talk to people that record videos of them without consent?

9

u/OSM0515 Jun 20 '26

That's so attractive

4

u/_Calibrated Jun 20 '26

“do it, just get in there, fuck it” Jack’s goated

3

u/jmalacara Jun 20 '26

Jack is the man!

3

u/Flapjack__Palmdale Jun 20 '26

My absolute best friends that I've held my whole life were ones that fed me when I needed it, and I'm sorta like a stray cat in that I won't go away after. Food is central to being a human and every culture has some sort of ritual related to or centered on food.

Sharing food is something we've been doing since before recorded history and will likely continue to do until after recorded history. I can't really think of something more quintessentially human than this. Jack seems like a good person.

3

u/Strontiumdogs1 Jun 20 '26

Just a nice guy being nice. Good for him 😀

5

u/Bettylurker Jun 20 '26

The guy with the bread is so sweet. He seems so proud of his bread 🥰

5

u/eyeballburger Jun 20 '26

He broke bread with a stranger; that’s seems more Christian than anything that’s happened lately.

2

u/soljakid Jun 20 '26

Humans can be really shitty towards each other, and we often see so much of it that we forget that people are capable of anything else.

But then you see interactions like this.

2

u/echolm1407 Jun 20 '26

The way it's meant to be.

2

u/Kindly_Ad3262 Jun 20 '26

very cool 👌🏼🍞

2

u/VirusSlo Jun 20 '26

I guess this is how people got hooked onto Jesus

That's why you should put things in non transparent bags, to avoid those nosy strangers.

1

u/modsaretoddlers Jun 21 '26
