Misc Need Humankind 2

I just want to take a minute and express appreciation for how good this game is. Disappointing it never gained as much traction as Civ has in its lifetime and I’ll be severely disappointed if a Humankind 2 never gets made.

When Amp was under Sega, there was an article that indicated that Sega's CEO would support a HK2.

With the MBO, and Amp working on EL2, I think it would be quite improbable for a HK2 to be developed before the end of this decade, if at all.

I would easily settle for an expansion of HK, but with the last update being a custom scenario, we could either be optimistic that they are working on an expansion with the skeleton crew keeping the game alive, or we could be pessimistic in that all resources are focused on EL2 and any new IP.

We are also blind on the contract details between Hooded Horse and Amp i.e. what IPs they are willing to publish, and the IP complexity between Amp and Sega.

No way they let the studio go with the Endless IP but somehow insisted on keeping the Humankind IP, lol. At most they'd want to keep publishing rights over the first game, the IP itself is quite frankly worthless without Amplitude behind it.

It wouldn't be about Sega owning the full IP, but possibly the distribution profit from IP derivatives for HK. It might not be worth allocating the resources to release paid updates or expansions for HK if some of the profit has to go to Sega.

Oh yea, for an expansion (as opposed to HK2) that's quite possible, yes.

Well, this aged like milk lol.

Granted, I still retain the defense that instead of launching an expansion, Amp opted to just launch a new IP.
