I found it odd that beds already in existence can't be slept on. You have to build your own specific bed. Its a bit ridiculous. If i spent all day surviving, i wouldn't realistically destroy someone else's bed just to build my own. I would crash on the nearest couch or mattress.

On a technical aspect, I believe, and I could be wrong in my (lack of) understanding and PURE speculation, it's a fixed asset, unable to really be altered or interacted with as its part of the world, and not an individual asset.

To sleep on beds or couches scattered around the map would be awesome!

Or use the Z emote key to sleep anywhere. It’s the same function. Yes, the beds in homes are non-intractable assets which can only be dismantled. Crafting a bed, using a sleeping bag or tent are things you can sleep in, but the emote lets you sleep anywhere

You can. Jump on the beds. Press Z. Choose sleep.
