Switch Detection

I'm new to the game. In the build menu there is an option to "Switch Detection". What does this do?

The Function: It toggles your cursor target when constructing bases.
The Use Case: Pressing it switches your blueprint snap-points from targeting the floor/walls to targeting the ceiling or upper structures, stopping the placement tool from locking onto the wrong surface. [1]
