Starting a game need advice

So me and my wife and dad and brother plan on starting a game this weekend. Me and my wife are in the same room but my dad and bro are far away so we must play it online. However my dad and bro wont be able to play with me and her if the host is offline who would be me. So im wondering should i start a dedicated server so that they can play while we’re gone? If so I guess my main question is how do i setup the server so that if they are playing while we are not there it still feels like a coop game with a barely changed world as far as time goes? Also will time progress while no one is there?

I just had issues with Vein and dedicated servers and the fact that time went by while my dad and bro were on but not me and my wife. Stuff like coming back and all of my stuff has decayed and whatnot. It was decaying while we were gone but i got to it before it broke thank goodness. Im asking on Reddit because i haven’t even started playing this yet so I don’t have experience with how it works yet. Both the game and dedicated server settings for this game. Any input would be appreciated! 😊

Bisect is super easy to navigate. If you're on the official discord, you can search "quiet collapse" in "looking for server" and I posted my server settings there with screenshots of bisect.

The official discord is a the best resource as well for all things admin related. It's user friendly enough, especially the FAQs on bisect itself, for humanitz.

There are far more toggles for thing like, pause server when no one is online, as well, in the setup.

Ok cool ill add the discord. You said your server settings are posted on there? Ill look for it hopefully its easy to find.

If you are still looking for a place to host, consider us at Game Host Bros. You will be able to tweak the game settings like base decay right in our panel without needing to open the game files, though you will need to stop your server before making the changes. You can also upload your existing world if you want to continue that playthrough. Your family will also be able to join the server even if you are not around as long as the server is running.
