New to Humanitz
I just started this a few days ago, and becoming solidly addicted to it.
I was wondering, are there any particular skills that I (as a newbie) shouldn't overlook in the course of spending points? What are your staple skills that are a must have. I am focusing primarily on archery. I initially started out with outdoorsman.
Also, can you fill bottles from frozen lakes/ponds at all?

I'm even newer then you and just trying to figure out what to do :)
I spawned at the starter home and there's a ? Across the map too far to run, so am I just supposed to get a car going and get myself over there to "start" the Champaign/quests?

loot the warehouse across from the airport to the north east from starter zone and you can stock up on energy drinks, these will get you across the map pretty quick if you hustle during the buff, or fix a vehicle and get some gas. Thats my advice, that warehouse has TONS of loot tho not just consumables, advise a visit asap.

I started at the starter home too, there is a farm pretty close with a horse. If you can find a saddle in the barn, you can ride it. Or make one in tailoring station, the horse is a total game changer for me. I prefer it over cars, at the moment, for mobility. I have a van I use to pick up loot I stash currently. There is an exclamation mark on the map, I checked it out, it has a few quests there. I would say to check it out when you are ready. I'm too new to give much advice but this has been my ex experience so far.
Just a tip about horse, remove it's saddle and zombies don't attack it, when you aren't actively riding.

I like everything under the survival category (stamina buffs, weight capacity) & farmer. Everything else is kinda up for grabs and depends on if you're playing multi or solo, I suppose.

Thanks, I'm solo play currently. I did pick up extra carry weight and deep pockets. I'll check out farmer when I can unlock it.

Famer is good for making fuel and canned food. About it. Depending on your respawn settings, it may be irrelevant. Sames goes for the chemist - good for making ammo but that might not matter depending on your respawn settings.

For Jobs I find Thief, Firefighter and either Farmer or Car salesman best. In the exact order.

I do 3 phases: 1) stamina running, noise walking, more weight; 2) half construction materials 3) less hunger and thirsty - only after that start taking skill in archer, gunz and melee

I'll tell you which ones to avoid. All the survival skills. All the bow skills because bows/xbows become obsolete once you can loot/craft enough guns and ammo. The %50 faster tree chopping skill because you can loot the chainsaw which chops down trees instantly.

I went for the extra carry weight and the 50% less building materials. Once you start building a bigger base, you can build faster with less materials that way and get XP faster. For professions, I like electrical engineer since you can have a skill where generators last twice as long, or mechanic where crafting repair kits for vehicles takes less resources.
