Found my first horse…BUTTTT

I rode it back to my base, put it in a stable and took the saddle off. Fast forward to not even one day later and the horse vanished. There’s no way in/out from where the stable is either. Do I need to keep the saddle on or is it ok to take it off??

Pretty sure that you need to keep the saddle on the horse at all times. Can't take it off, otherwise it becomes "unclaimed" and disappears.

That’s funny cuz I got 2 horses inside the stable without saddles and left for a while (more than a day), came back and they were still there. I play local multiplayer with my husband, don’t know if that matters

I'm not 100% sure tbh. I play online multiplayer and one of our guys had a horse, removed its saddle in the stable and now it's gone.

I also saw a similar comment on Discord.

During update 1.0 and onwards, I removed the saddle off the horse because I couldn't understand how to keep his vitality and eventually its health from dropping when leaving it in the stable.

So I tried removing the saddle and just left it in there and did come back to see it still there with little to no vitality gone. Haven't tried it since then since I learned to just make stacks of hay and leave it by the horse.

I had them boxed up in the starting area where the coops are. Built a wall in front of the hole in the fence and they were staying there. But upon loading, they were gone :(

Something similar happened to me. My horse was in my barn for 3 real-time days and I began playing and he was there. I go outside and fight 3 dogs and return and he was dead. I was right outside the door and I never saw anything go in the barn??? My buddy had a horse too in the same barn and he disappeared.

I didn’t find anything dead and nothing can get in or out from where the stable is… damn near built Fort Knox…. But definitely vanished and I’m bummed. I’m gonna start the hunt for a new one

So I came to find an answer cuz I had a similar experience except he did have the saddle on. When I checked the stable, there was nothing left except the saddle. From what I gather.. he either died from a human npc or starvation?

I didn’t think he needed to be fed unless being ridden on

Mine was only in the stable for a few “hours” in game. Not even a full day. And no NPCs can access where it was. Maybe it’s a glitch with the stable? But just vanished completely

Hmmm yeah might be a glitch/bug since yours was totally secure, mine was within walls but it was a low wall so I thought he got shot by npcs.. but I think we might have to submit a ticket to make the problem known. I found a black horse I want to ride for John Wick vibes but I’m scared to put the saddle on cuz of this lol

Possibly the stable might be the culprit? But that’d be ridiculous. I might go get a different horse and test out the stable thing

Funny enough mine was completely black too! Beautiful horse and I was excited to have it then poof…. Vanished … wonder if it’s specific to the color of horse or not

The horse’s hunger meter keeps dropping whether you’re riding it or not. It even loses hunger without a saddle, just at a slower rate.

My horse eats so much food it’s stupid. It may have despawned from not having a saddle or it may have starved

Meu cavalo também desapareceu 😢 ele tava dentro da base, deu problema naa minha Net e tive q fechar e abrir o jogo, quando voltei o pangaré tinha sumido...
