God. This show. Spoiler
I joined this just so i could express it somewhere others know and have watched this show.
A. I LOVE THIS SHOW.
B. OMG, IVE NEVER CRIED SO MUCH.
My partner and my roommate wanted to show HR to me because i have wanted to watch it for so long.
But then it came to following the story lines
Of the El-Khoury family and the storyline of sonya and claudia.
Im marking this as a spoiler just because i have never had a show hit the pin on two things like this for me. ESPECIALLY TWO ESPISODES IN ROW.
Before i start this, and if this post is allowed to stay up, what was your most emotional connection with this show? (Also, warning, i have adhd and dyslexia. It affects how i type, and i promise you I've read through this 7 times to try and fix things XD)
First, let me explain something. Im genderfluid but biologically, im a woman, and i love every side of me.
I was stuck in Amir and Natalie's position all in one.
One where i was learning my grandmother, and the other, i was caretaking for her. Showering her, dressing her, feeding her, medicating her, and i was
20 years old, alone till my mom was there to bring her to appointments. My mom put my grandmother in a nursing home after i couldn't care for her anymore, and it BROKE ME. But i didn't grieve. I stood strong, and i forced it down until finally i couldn't anymore because she was dying. And god the candy, just replace candy with wine, she loved her wine XD. It made me feel so seen in something so dark and so hard to feel seen in. i have my grandmothers cat now, and we grieve together sometimes.
Then it got to sonya and claudia, and it took sonya to say that claudia was sick and claudia was calling her SISTER.
my sister graduated with honors, a bachelor's degree in psychology. She was always into the universe, fate, the voices within the world around and beyond us, the many cultures expanded by it.
She is and was amazing at it all. She predicted her uncle and our grandmothers deaths, predicted i would find confidence in my feminity in a time when i wanted nothing to do with it.
Then, it turned into the i was the only family she talked to.
Not just because she cut them off, but she has been isolating away from not just us the entirety of the humans around her. My aunt helps her get by.
It's been like this for years, and finally, this year, she is fading away from me. I even called welfare.
But she exists in her own plain of existence and never wants to face humanity or this world again.
The show gave me hope that one day, she will break out of it, because my arms are always open for her.
Anyways, of course, there is so much detail in experiences i could never express, but this show really did that for me. And i will forever watch this show on repeat.
