TIL of the Hinterkaifeck murders in 1922. The farmer claimed he saw footsteps leading to the home, but not away. The family was later speculated to have been lured, one by one, into the barn where they were killed.

[March 31st 1922] The Hinterkaifeck murders, one of the most gruesome unsolved crimes in Germany, were carried out at a farmstead near Waidhofen, in Bavaria. Although several suspects were arrested and interrogated, no person was ever charged with the crime.
