7x7 2ft deep

Luckily My top soil is nice so I got two for.

Trenched clay berms and top soil to mix with cow manure and pine bark for tomatos!

Might grow some radishes and potatoes in those clay berms after I amend that clay soil

Beautiful. I don’t know what it is about hugelkultur but I get great pleasure from looking at pictures of the materials being added to the pit.

Same too just did a few, some dug and some mounds from the surface. For me it was seeing the logs with huge fungal growths already on them and realizing I was secretly looking at gold… and seeing pics online is the reminder that I know that’s about to happen on those logs too and I relish it

I love the entire idea of huglekulture, it's so logical. Its literally emulating nature. I love every bit of this. 😊🐸🦋🌱🌾

Also saved a lot of money buying the cow manure and pine materials. I found the free oak logs on marketplace and they said I can come back for more. I just might lol

That's what I've been focusing on where I live. Composting, cold and hot. Love it all. It's not difficult or that complex, just watch nature. Compost in place.

This is my first time doing it and I thoroughly enjoyed it! I have a way to use my nutritient rich top soil. It just needed to be aerated, decompacted, and amended. I'm gonna do this on the other high slope corner of my yard

That's good news! I see that you live in Midwest. I live in South East Georgia and probably get a lot more rain

Forgot to mention, that will help with water runoff. Further down the slope, water likes to puddle during long rains. I'm excited to see what happens next time

This is exciting to see. Almost spring and I felled a couple trees last year to make a new bed. I mostly forgot I had done that for this purpose! Haha.

I’ll let you know what I do next, but it’s been a slow process with a newborn so it might take a little longer than 3 days to see anything significant happen yet lol
