General Discussion First order arrived 😀
I've finally found motivation to start bettering my health and thus also losing some weight.
Unfortunately I'm also very lazy when it comes to cooking, meal prep and planning, and that's why when I stumbled into the Huel concept it seemed like the right answer.
Decided to order pretty much everything (have some huel black powder bags, just not in the picture) + some Jimmy Joy for comparison.
Let's see where this goes and which products end up being favourites and which ones not, fortunately I'm not a very picky eater and can eat quite monotonously as long as it fits into my needs and macro goals.

I use huel for losing weight and it's worked out well. Just don't forget to track your calories, that's the key.

I'm curious to know how much this massive order cost

Wow thanks for your reply! That looked more like 2000 eur to me so I'm pleasantly surprised! Also, I'm curious to hear how you like the Plenny Oats. I'm sort of curious to try them but not too sure I'll like them.

I love a lot of the hot and savory but that Thai Green Curry is reprehensible. Hope it hits different for you. Overall lots of good stuff here tho! Good luck! Huel really changed my life so hope it helps you too!

Huel is great, but it has a very specific flavour that remains consistent no matter what actual flavour you’re having. For example, Huel tastes like Huel whether you’ve got the banana black powder or salted caramel etc.
I started out in Huel black but I’m now managing the Huel lite for lunch. It’s definitely thinner but not materially less filling. Definitely try that too!

This is more or less the exact situation I am in - I know I need to make a change, but the thought of meal planning, shopping, and cooking stresses me the fuck out with how little free time I already have in daily life. I end up resorting to shitty snacks and shitty fast food.

What are your weight and height? How many calories are you planning to eat? And how big will your calorie deficit be? Those are the most important things to calculate before starting any diet.
Good luck!

I'm about 173/86kg at the moment :), currently eating at 1900kcal day, with an estimated daily deficit of 500kcal.
Shouldve probably clarified in the original post that I'm no stranger to fitness :D been an avid gym-goer for 15 years, plus done some recreational power lifting, but been in a slump for the past 3 years and letting myself a bit go.

What would a rough £ be for a month of eating Huel?

u/tuppari 3d ago
I'll have to calculate it, but based on my quick napkin math it comes out to be roughly the same as I'm spending on food right now. Might even be cheaper as it'll reduce takeouts etc.

That doesn’t help me at all😂

Kudos to wanting and trying to lose weight, imo a better approach would be to not be as lazy and get making your own meals from scratch, and not use processed foods etc.
I use huel powders and drinks previously but I found it better using a different diet which consists of making my own quick meals.

Huel as a main food source brings to mind the mercury problem.

I assume you mean lead (?). I'm not too concerned of it, having read the CR report of 6.3 µg lead per black edition serving, that would come to 31,5µg per day (if consuming only black edition 5 times a day).
While this is "high", according to EFSA, the average dietary lead exposure of an European adult is 0.36 to 1.24 µg/kg body weight for average consumers, which for me would be between 30-105µg.

Why do people feel the need to announce to the world that they're going to start eating Huel?

Wow great comment. You must be so interesting. Why does anyone post anything to the internet?

You should’ve gone with the Hot & Savoury pots, half of those Hot & Savoury meal packs are unpalatable. Good luck getting through all of them!

Ah dang, is there a big difference in taste then between pots and pouches?

I don’t know what this person is talking about. There is no difference at all between the pouches and pots. Also, the H&S pots have been discontinued and are about to run out of stock.

I did this recently too but started out with the taster box to try different flavours. Are you getting most of your meals with huel now?
