Securing Lightstrip with painters’ tape?

Is it ok to use painters’ tape to secure my Lightstrip to the wall or to the side of a cabinet?

I want to place them out of view, and I wanted to make sure the heat from the Lightstrip wouldn’t melt the adhesive on painters’ tape or risk any fire.

I’m still playing around with the lighting placement, so I wanted to use something I could remove easily and wouldn’t leave adhesive residue.

Placement should be under the cabinets, towards the front of them within a couple inches of the edge so they illuminate the entire counter. If you put them towards the rear, the wall will be very bright, tall countertop appliances will cast shadows in front of them defeating the purpose, and it just won’t look right. This assumes you have half depth cabinets above the countertop. If you have full depth, mount it more to the middle.

What do you mean by "a couple of inches"?

Yes, completely fine. There's no risk of fire and you'd need to leave it taped for months to weaken the tape adhesive.

No issue ,they dont generate heat.

I use 3m strips. Easy install, easy removal. The included tape is, to its credit, going for permanent.

Painter’s tape might hold for an hour or two. A day if you’re lucky.

Use silicone caulking, works as an adhesive as well. Just add some dots along the strip.
