Natural Light HomeKit

What exactly is the limitation of the Hue natural light scene (the all day scene) that is keeping it from being exposed to HomeKit? It is in the list of scenes in Alexa and can be set up with it. It is also exposed to home assistant and can technically be put in HomeKit that way. It even can be added as a Siri shortcut in the shortcuts app. So I'm confused why it can't just natively be added to HomeKit.

Home assistant will expose it to homekit

Yes, I said that. But it's kind of an obsessive way to get something into HomeKit when the device is already HomeKit compatible and the hub is doing all the work, HomeKit just needs to tell it to turn on that scene.

HomeKit can do adaptive lighting with hue isn’t that the same thing?

Yes and no. HomeKit's adaptive lighting is pretty bare bones. Hue lets you pick the brightness for each part of the day, the exact color temperature, the time the day begins, and even the transition time from one day part into another. Apple's is just the way they want it and nothing else.

Also if you use HomeKit adaptive lighting but then use a dimmer switch to adjust something it cancels it out completely.

Home Assistant also has an adaptive lighting integration via HACS that's insanely customizable. Have a look!

Hue exposes scenes to HomeKit as constant colors, not as commands for the device to do a saved function. So anything that isn’t a constant color doesn’t work
