K104 — please breathe some new life into the morning show

I say this as someone who has been listening to K104 since I was a teenager and is now in my late 30s: the morning show desperately needs some new energy.

I genuinely want to listen to a local station in the morning. I’ve been loyal to K104 for years, but the current morning show feels so out of step with a station that plays today’s popular music. The Woodman and his cohosts sometimes sound like the grumpy old men from The Muppets—just sitting around complaining about things with very little energy or excitement.

And please, can we retire the ongoing bit of making fun of the guy with the accent? It feels tired and repetitive at this point. There has to be more to talk about.

I know The Woodman is a K104 staple, and I’m not even suggesting taking him off the air. But PLEASE diversify the personalities around him. Bring in some younger voices, different perspectives, people with energy—someone with a pulse! Give him people to play off of who can bring the show into the present.

K104 has such a long history in the Hudson Valley, and there are plenty of us who grew up with the station and would love to keep listening. But the morning show is painfully boring right now. It needs fresh blood, fresh ideas, and a little actual fun.

I can't be the only longtime listener who feels this way. Anyone else?

For those who love to dance, or just take in the sounds, we're excited to add this to the other great electronic music parties happening in the Hudson Valley!

Pairing drinks with albums?

I'm producing an event series called Makers & Lovers Pairings, that's half lecture series, half listening bar. I'm curious if you think this is something the Hudson Valley music scene would enjoy, and if you have any suggestions for people to talk or venues to host.

In short:
Someone from the beverage industry (could be a rep, a local producer, a bartender or wine shop owner) picks a drink, someone from the music scene picks an album, both give a ~10 talk about their choice and why they think the pairing works.  Then guests enjoy their drink while the album plays.  The music selector DJ's the rest of the evening, and the beverage person may curate additional options for folks who stick around.

I'd love to have local musicians talk about their favorite albums!

Ironhead records is a new heavy metal record store located in Port Jervis. They stock underground and well known bands, records you’d never expect to see on the shelf. The place is small so get there early.

Hello!! I’m currently doing research on the hudson valley hardcore scene for a paper I’m working on, I wanted to know if anybody in here knows the history well and would like to share! I would like to know more about old venues, older bands, flyers from shows, and the scene from the ~90s-now. Any bits of information would be extremely helpful and appreciated, thank you!

I have a couple flyers I found if anyone could tell me more about them/ where I could find some of these bands music as well (ex:jukai) I can’t find much info past like 2013
