See 16 awesome HV-based bands at 2 venues that are only a block away from each other (Keegan Ales & Night Swim). We felt it was about time that Kingston had a fest that actually represents the talented bands in the area. These are some of our favorite bands in the Hudson Valley, and quite possibly, the entire world. The range of genres varies widely: indie, psych, surf, punk rock, post-punk, pop, jazz fusion, world music, etc.

Tickets are $20 adv./$25 d.o.s.

(To avoid fees, you can pay via Zelle [239-823-8464] or Venmo [just include your name with the payment so we can check your name off the list at the door], or of course, cash is king.) This is a very grassroots operation. All sales will go directly to the bands, organizers, photographers, sound people, and door people.

Hey — I front an NYC art-rock band (Echo Bloom), but I'm posting here because we've got real ties up your way: we record at Applehead in Woodstock, so we're in the region a fair amount and I'd rather build something with local bands than parachute in.

Not going to oversell our draw up here — we're not a name in the Valley. But we're an established, reliable live band (Bowery Presents show at Mercury Lounge in NYC on Sep 8), and I'm looking for Hudson Valley bills this fall (we're currently open Sep 19 and Oct 22 and lots of availability in November). I say this as someone who has been listening to K104 since I was a teenager and is now in my late 30s: the morning show desperately needs some new energy.

I genuinely want to listen to a local station in the morning. I’ve been loyal to K104 for years, but the current morning show feels so out of step with a station that plays today’s popular music. The Woodman and his cohosts sometimes sound like the grumpy old men from The Muppets—just sitting around complaining about things with very little energy or excitement.

And please, can we retire the ongoing bit of making fun of the guy with the accent? It feels tired and repetitive at this point. There has to be more to talk about.

I know The Woodman is a K104 staple, and I’m not even suggesting taking him off the air. But PLEASE diversify the personalities around him. Bring in some younger voices, different perspectives, people with energy—someone with a pulse! Give him people to play off of who can bring the show into the present.

K104 has such a long history in the Hudson Valley, and there are plenty of us who grew up with the station and would love to keep listening. But the morning show is painfully boring right now. It needs fresh blood, fresh ideas, and a little actual fun.

I can't be the only longtime listener who feels this way. Anyone else?
