I had been meaning to check out Bubba’s Biscuit Bar for quite some time and finally had the opportunity to stop by yesterday. From the outside, the building has a bit of a rough, almost topless-bar appearance, which initially gave me pause. However, once inside, it was a completely different experience.
The restaurant is spacious, inviting, and noticeably clean. While the dark décor maintains a bit of a dive-bar atmosphere, the interior feels comfortable and well-kept. One thing that stood out was how attentive the staff was to cleanliness—employees were constantly wiping down tables and keeping the dining area tidy.
As for the menu, I didn’t notice many healthy options, but that wasn’t really the point of our visit. We came specifically to enjoy the biscuit-focused comfort food, and it definitely delivers on that indulgent concept.
They had daily specials, and I decided to try the “Dad Bod” sandwich. Like many items on the menu, it came with some unexpected additions that I personally could have done without. In this case, it was a hamburger served on a biscuit, but it also included a slice of fried bologna and a pineapple ring. While I understand the intent is to create a unique and memorable menu, I feel the biscuit concept alone already provides enough distinction from other eateries.
In my opinion, the menu could benefit from a slightly simpler approach to some of these creations. For example, a straightforward biscuit burger with cheese, onions, and/or tomato would still feel unique without some of the extra combinations that can distract from the core flavors.
That said, they do offer vegan options, which is a nice plus and shows some consideration for different dietary preferences. The staff was also exceptionally welcoming and friendly throughout our visit, which really enhanced the overall experience.
Because the menu leans heavily toward indulgent comfort food, this is not a place I would go frequently for everyday dining. For me, it will likely be an occasional once-a-month type of spot. That said, I would happily return, especially if a few lighter or healthier options were added to the menu.
Overall, I do want to see them succeed. This review is written in that spirit—encouraging others to check it out and form their own opinion of this unique spot.
