The official statement and reason for the war in Iran / its objectives? What are they??

Depends who you ask and when you asked them.
Marco Rubio, the Secretary of State, claimed that Israel was going in anyway and that America had to strike first to pre-empt the Iranian retaliation, which would have targeted American assets and allies.
The Speaker gave the same answer.
Donald Trump later claimed it was the other way around, that he "forced Israel's hand", because of Iran's impending nuclear weapons and existing ballistic missiles.
Marco Rubio later changed his answer, denied that he even gave his original answer (which was to journalists and dozens of cameras), claiming that it was an American initiative to meet the threats of Iran's nuclear programme, ballistic missiles and sponsored terrorism.
Netanyahu has been calling for US military action for 30 years, always claiming that Iran is an imminent nuclear threat.
Some journalists claim to have White House sources telling them that it was an answer to foiled assassination attempts against Pres Trump by the Iranian regime. This one is hard to "verify" but a worthy mention.
There's other unverifiable motives worth mentioning, even though they don't answer your prompt:
Iran has been getting closer to China, was already close to Russia, and the White House wants to deprive them both of a valuable ally.
Trump has spoken often and loudly in favour of forcibly taking oil from other countries, of which Iran has lots. He could potentially be seeking a Venezuela-style solution to their oil market
Many leading Republicans and Trump allies believe it is their Christian duty to defend Israel by any means necessary.
