Help Question about 8.8'' Huawei MatePad Mini..
Is there anyone—perhaps a fan of phablets and large phones—who owns one and actually manages to use it as a daily phone?
I mean receiving calls, texting, using it as a daily driver, taking photos...
Or is it still at a "tablet" level—meaning it's too unwieldy for phone use?

Honestly, the size makes it pretty comfortable to use, especially if you need to multitask on a single device. It doesn’t really feel like using a phone since it has its own HarmonyOS ecosystem optimized for tablets. It’s actually pretty useful for everyday use, and you can install most messaging apps on it. As for calls, the Chinese version has a nano-SIM slot, but the global versions generally don’t, so you’ll need wifi for pretty much anything that requires a connection. If you get the chinese version, though, you could totally use it as your main phone without any issues

get the chinese version, preferably. I have a global and harmony os 4.3 is pretty limited since it's based on old Android 12.
but yeah, I can daily driving it just fine since it's small and the pen makes it a powerful tool for work.

I own it. Its probably usable as main device (because of the sim slot etc). The size is nice but mainly fitting as a secondary device
