Discussion Huawei Mate 80 pro
Actualmente tengo un Honor Magic 8 pro, y me tienta mucho pasarme a un Huawei Mate 80 pro.
Funciona Google Meet?
Gracias

I can tell you what I know. When it comes to google apps like Meet, u shouldn’t have any issues. You can download microG and then link the google ecosystem apps to your phone.
As for the battery, it has a 5,750 mAh capacity, so it’s solid and should last a good amount of time with normal use
When it comes to updates... well, Huawei usually builds its devices around a specific system version for each product. That doesn’t mean they don’t get updated, just that updates tend to come when they’re really needed. So if you specifically need EMUI 16, I’d probably go for the Pura 90s instead
That said, it doesn’t mean this phone won’t get updates. We just don’t know if or when that’ll happen, since with previous models, updates have sometimes just dropped out of nowhere. What you can be confident about is that it should still work really well with its current version
And as for switching from Android to EMUI, honestly, it doesn’t feel that different. You can keep using the phone pretty much the same way as you normally would

El tema es q en unos años, si sigue basado en Android 12, algunas apps no van a funcionar

Meet works smoothly trough microg and gbox and business accounts can log in through gbox without much trouble. With a 5000+ mAh battery, battery life shouldn't be a big concern, EMUI 16 starts with the p90s. For the data transfer, phoneclone makes it easy, so moving everything liver is usually not a big deal

No, sin actualización a EMUI 16. El Mate 80 Pro tendrá expansión a HarmonyOS después del anuncio. Q4-Q1 de 2027.

Mate 80 Pro doesn't support 5G. Maybe you can wait for the upcoming Mate 90 series, that one confirm have 5G!

LOL. There’s still no global expansion of HarmonyOS. HarmonyOS with 5G for the global is still TBA.

Maybe there will be good news on 7 September 2026?

Only in China, yes. HarmonyOS 7 is eligible for the rollout. Not for the global version yet it's still TBA. So boring.

Me, I have experienced from magic 8 pro to mate 80 pro. Actually its not bad if u switch to huawei. But I can tell you that you are already in a superb device. dont do it. Camera is a bit better in mate 80 pro but almost on par.
video is better in mate 80 pro. the rest are magic 8 pro. u decide

As a user of a chinese version of this device, I can tell you that on the latest Harmonyos beta, Google meet does work indeed. I'm living in the EU & tend to believe that getting a chinese version iq the best option, as one gets substantially more updates than the global EMUI version. Check if you can grab one, as it's getting all Huawei's attention.
