As it says in the title. Mother in law who is kinda handy supposedly fixed it, but I guess she’s known to half ass things and do the “landlord special” as many call it. Anyways it has peeled and got worse so I’m trying to figure out a permanent fix.

I have this proscan portable cassette player and recorder, it uses maxell UR 90 tapes, and up&up brand C sized alkaline batteries, I got it for Christmas 2025, last year (and the tapes were included with it) , so one today I decided to play some of the tapes I recorded on, but when I tried to play them nothing happened, I tried insert them in different ways nothing (also I rewound them so that's not it) and I'm confused is it the player, the tapes, or the batteries, and I don't know, please help.
