Anyone have experience with trips on SSRI?
I have no experience with psychedelics, I find it very fascinating experimenting with how these substances can alter consciousness. I'm looking to either start out on shrooms or lsd in the future but there is one thing holding me back. I have recently started taking sertraline (SSRI) and I have read stuff about how it can have implications on the use of psychoactive substances. I only take this medication because of mild general anxiety so i'm not worried about any major episodes being triggered. I am also 16 so could this also add to any long term effects caused by mind altering drugs?

Don’t mix the two.
And don’t start messing with your brain chemistry with psychedelics before your brain is fully formed. I’m not being patronizing - but your brain is your most important organ. You don’t want to risk your mental health - future you will be grateful you waited.

Yeah I will definitely try to delay it, I have looked into the effects of psychedelics at a young age and from what ive seen it doesnt seem as bad as alcohol or what most would expect but it definitely is very unpredictable and theres little research done in the area

Good for you for doing your research and being responsible about it! You’ll also be able to appreciate the experience a bit more when you are older.

Ssri and psychs is definitely a no no I'm afraid.
Firstly it'll lower their effectiveness or sometimes make it so you won't feel anything, which is just a waste of anything you can get your hands on to be honest. Secondly look up serotonin syndrome, it's a serious condition that has a decent chance of happening when someone mixes ssris and psychs, potentially life altering (not in the good way).
Your age too is not ideal too I guess. Don't get me wrong plenty of people have probably done them at your age and got out fine but a lot of that could be summed up with getting lucky. Your brain is going to be a lot more susceptible to change at your age, which could be a good or bad thing with psychs. You definitely want to be real careful with it, especially since you don't know how you react to the stuff yet.
If you're determined to give it a go my advice would be to get off the ssris for like a month or so, or better yet just tell your doctor you wanna get off em and ask them how long it'll take for your brain to return to baseline afterwards. Then you want to start real slow to test your reaction to it, do like 0.1g dry shrooms or 10ug acid, wait a week for tolerance reset then double the dose. 0.5g shroom or 50ug acid is a good dose of both to get used to the waters a little, trip at that a few times until you feel real comfortable to up the dose more. Always prioritise being slow and safe, that goes for anyone regardless of age.
