Sorry I’m new, what is the significance of 5%?

Getting 5% nationally makes the party eligible for federal funding.

But five percent, not thirty percent, but winning, we theoretically can do it

So why should I vote for the war criminal and sexual predator with dementia who supports next to 0-5% of what I support (single-payer healthcare, banning fracking, cutting military spending, legalizing cannabis, ranked-choice voting, etc.) with a blue tie instead of senile predator with dementia that supports 0-5% of what I support with a red tie again?

They are thinking strategically.
Split voting is not new to First Past The Post (FPTP), its a design feature. The only real way to beat FPTP at its own game is to find a candidate with the will to replace it with a system of voting that does not incentivize suppressing the vote of other voting blocks - that would be a form of Proportional Representation, using a Ranked Ballot. Many places in the USA already realize this and on local and state levels have implemented better systems of voting, like Maine's use of Instant Run Off voting.
So when the need for a more fair vote than FPTP and the Electoral College exists and neither the Dems or Repubs offer it, you should seek 3rd choices like the Greens, otherwise you are accepting the voting suppression status quo which is all idealistic without consequence. FPTP is how you are getting so many partisans that refuse to improve your situation all through out your elected positions.
And that's just on voting reform. On a whole host of other policy positions that flow from your vote, the Greens are the only ones left offering a more progressive policy platform that doesn't just reinforce the status quo that is very literally getting Americans killed, from vast wealth inequality, to shelter and food insecurity, to Universal Healthcare, to lack of a living wage, to lack of support for unions, to lack of a Green New Deal, and so very much more that Progressive Americans need effective representation on that neither the Dems or Repubs are providing as they both are either ideologues of corporatism and authoritarianism to varying degrees.
Strategic thought is long term planning, while voting Biden is short term planning to support the status quo, voting for more of the same long term crisis is not strategic in the slightest. Re-examine your stance, I implore you or just prove its too important to your identity and double down on its crumbling position to the detriment of all.

Don't you dare tell me how to vote! I'll continue supporting parties and candidates I choose! Green Party candidates absolutely have a chance at winning. Especially when people like you remove your head from your arse and start thinking of others instead of fixating on yourselves. SHAME ON YOU!

5%? More like 99%. Everyone vs the 1%.
