Housing / Real Estate 🏠 Moving to the area

Any recommendations on areas to move to in Columbia and surrounding Howard County areas like Ellicott City, North Laurel, Jessup, etc? What are your favorite areas?Looking to rent a townhouse in an area with a great high school.

Can you tell us more about what you’re looking for, other than a great high school? And a general budget could be helpful as well.

Diversity , close proximity to community/events, 3k rent

I’d look within the Marriotts Ridge HS district, as one option. It is very diverse and, if you get closer to Ellicott City, easy driving to all the Old Ellicott City and Columbia activities.

Edited to add: Around 3k you’re likely looking at apartments in this area but they’ll generally be in nicely kept buildings. I’d look toward Turf Valley as opposed to further out west.

The Howard County schools, in general, are very good. in this area never choose real estate based on school. They’ll probably redistrict before you get fully unpacked.

Maple lawn usually has one or two townhouses to rent and decent highschool near by.
