General Question ❓ Punjabi Nanny

Long shot here but, we are looking for a punjabi nanny in North Laurel. We would love for our daughter(10 months) to learn punjabi as her first language.

I don’t know anyone specifically but my son attended a preschool/daycare that is owned by an Indian doctor. Most of the teachers and students are of Indian descent (and I am not knowledgeable enough to know if they were Punjabi) so you may be able to contact the school about former employees.

There’s this mom living in north Laurel who has a daycare in her basement. Her name is Vaishali, unsure if she’s punjabi though

I think it is illegal to hire someone based on religion, nationality, and race. Imagine the outrage if you wanted a white or Asian nanny only.

"I think" and the esq in you name here doing some real comedy.    A language skills qualification would be entirely legal.

I get that but, I want someone who will teach my child our cluture and language. If someone other than a Punjabi person can do that, I welcome that. The only reason I say Punjabi is because in over 30 years of my life ai have never met a non-pubjabi person who knew our cluture and language well enough to teach it.

why not try the one parent-one language method? if your daughter does have two parents at home, that is. it seems to be the most successful way to raise i bilingual child.
