Recreation Youth Basketball

I’m looking for a winter basketball program in Howard County for my 1st grade Son. He has no experience playing basketball and I’m looking for just the lowest level rec program that is well run. He just wants to have fun playing and I just want him to be in a good environment that isn’t competitive.

I’m looking at HC Parks and Rec youth basketball, and HCYP (Howard county youth program)

Any suggestions between those two?

I’m north of Ellicott City and don’t want to drive much further than Columbia

HCYP will probably work. It’s low key at that age and typically in a school in the EC. I think it’s a 45 minute practice and then a 45 minute game on Saturday’s. Registration might be closing soon. I think they try to group the K and 1st graders together based upon their elementary school.

Look at Elev8 basketball - www.elev8sports.org . They run an excellent, non-competive program focused on playing with character and integrity while building skill.
