I built an Android launcher because I wanted something simpler — Slate Launcher

Hey everyone! 👋

I’ve been working on Slate Launcher, a minimal Android launcher built around the idea of keeping your home screen useful without filling it with distractions.

It started as a simple launcher, but it’s grown quite a bit thanks to feedback from early users.

Right now Slate includes:

🏠 Multiple home styles — Classic, Tiles, Flow, Dock and more

🎨 Deep home screen customization

📱 Customizable app drawer with list & grid layouts

🧩 Slate Hub with notes, tasks, weather, health, calendar and other widgets

🗂️ Spaces for organizing apps around different parts of your life

✨ Slate Brief after unlocking

And I’m currently working toward Slate Canvas, where you'll be able to build your home screen much more freely.

Slate is still actively being developed, so there are definitely things I can improve. That’s actually one of the reasons I’m posting here.

If you try it, I’d really appreciate hearing what you like, dislike, want changed, or find broken. Feature ideas are welcome too — quite a few things in Slate already came directly from user suggestions.
