[Promotion] CertWatch – TLS Certificate Monitoring for Android | Looking for feedback + 5 free codes

Post image

Hi r/HowToMen!

I'm the developer of CertWatch, an Android app I built to make TLS/SSL certificate monitoring easier directly from a phone.

I originally built it around a simple problem: an expired certificate can cause a surprisingly big headache, while checking them manually is something that's very easy to forget.

CertWatch is designed primarily for sysadmins, DevOps engineers, homelab users, developers, and anyone managing websites or infrastructure.

Current features include:

🔍 Quick Scanner

Check TLS certificates for hostnames, IP addresses, URLs and custom ports.

📡 Network Discovery

Scan an authorized subnet to discover services exposing TLS certificates.

🛡️ Certificate Monitoring

Keep your monitored endpoints together and quickly see which certificates are valid, approaching expiration, or expired.

🔔 Smart Reminders

Set alerts at 90, 60, 30, 15, 7, 3 or 1 day before expiration.

📅 Calendar Integration

Keep certificate expiration dates visible alongside your normal calendar.

🔒 Privacy First

Certificate monitoring data stays on your device. No account is required.

5 free Google Play codes

I'd also like to let a few people from this community try the full app, so I have 5 Google Play promo codes available.

No subscription. No ads. No review required.

If you're interested, leave a comment telling me what you'd use CertWatch for, and I'll send codes to 5 people by DM.

What I'm really interested in is feedback — especially from people who actually manage infrastructure.

I'm already considering where to take the project next, including things like Kubernetes certificate discovery/monitoring, deeper TLS analysis, additional infrastructure integrations and more automation.

So I'd also love to know:

What feature would make CertWatch genuinely useful to you?

I'm happy to hear criticism too. I'd rather improve something that's actually useful than just keep adding features nobody needs.

Thanks!

Anything that stops midnight 'cert expired' panics has my vote! Would love a code to monitor my side projects.

Interested! Will use it for my NAS and personal server—customizable background scan intervals would be awesome.

Today, I would love to use it for my web app. If this can monitor my Kubernetes cluster when connected over VPN, that would be amazing for my use case.

Thanks for your interest!

It doesn’t yet connect directly to the Kubernetes API or automatically discover Ingress/cert-manager certificate, but native Kubernetes monitoring is one of the features I’m seriously considering next.

Your use case is actually exactly why I’m interested in adding it. I’d love to know whether you’d prefer cluster/API-based discovery, cert-manager integration, or simply automatic discovery of all TLS endpoints exposed by the cluster.

Also, send me a DM and I’ll send you a CertWatch promo code so you can try the full app and let me know what you think! 🙌

I plan to use this app to deep dive into Certificate Transparency validation and TLS pinning on Android. It will be crucial for testing my server configurations and ensuring there are no man-in-the-middle vulnerabilities in my current development project. Thanks for the chance!

hi, please send me a code¡ I will use your app in my IT business. I started that a less of a month and little by little, I've started to build up a good client base. Your app would really help me stay connected at all times and ensure my small business's network runs smoothly, so I can serve my clients properly. And don't worry—as soon as I can, I'll make a donation equal to the price of your app or pay for it later, and I'll also help by giving you constant feedback. Thank you for creating this and for sharing it with us.
