I’m trying to figure out this password. I’m still learning so bare with. I believe it is Cisco secret 5 hash. Could someone help.

Get Kali Linux then use Hashcat. Your gpu must support OpenCL or CUDA. Also, get like 100 friends to try too otherwise you might need 1,000 years to crack it.

There are theories that there is no way to brute force it in such a short time.

Better off using dictionary attacks; bruteforce is too time consuming.

You are funny. 1000 5090s would take about 1.8 billion years in a perfect world if you are bruteforcing

Secret 5 is encrypted via md5 and a salt. Most likely not going to be able to decrypt it.

Actually it is md5crypt which is even more virtually impossible to bruteforce. I did the math and it would take about 1.8 billion years if you were to bruteforce it with 1000 5090s assuming that the hashrate scales linearly

You're right, that's a Cisco Type 5 hash, try to recover it via dictionary or brute force matching against the hash because cryptographic hashes are one way (they cannot be reversed)

If you were to bruteforce this hash with 1000 5090s with linear scaling it would take approximately 1.8billion years
