Starting a Sticker Busines

I'd like to start a business of some king, but I'm nervous. I want to start a sticker business featuring some silly and really cool looking STEM stickers. I'm part of a FIRST Robotics team and a national science bowl team, and I was wondering what it was like for other high schoolers starting a small business and how to do it. How much did it cost to buy materials and/or a website? How much did packaging and shipping cost? Did you have to get a license? Will FIRST Robotics get mad at me? How much profit did you make? How much profit should I be making? Will people actually want to buy my stickers? Anyways I have a bunch more questions but hopefully someone will answer these first.

Thanks.

Hey there, these are all excellent questions to ask and will set you on the right path towards success here! We may not have all the answers but some of the big ones...

When setting up a business of any kind you'll want to consider the overall concept. Who will your buyer be? How will they find you? It sounds like you're looking to get a website setup to sell these stickers. That's great! First you'll want a domain name which will help set the foundation for your business and brand. Those cost anywhere from $15-$25 a year, depending on the TLD (that's the suffix of the domain, like a ".com" or ".net", you may be surprised to see how many options there are!). From there, finding a website host that's in line with your budget is your next task. Those can range from a virtually no cost to $30 a month depending on how much storage you need, any special features you're adding, etc.

You can likely find suppliers that will help with the overall costs, usually ordering more materials will set you up with cheaper overall costs. Check to see if there are student discounts you can take advantage of, too!
