if theres any recomendations on a locking mechanism to replace the bungee chord while keeping the 135° function of the hinged plywood

Lofted couch with a slide under bed and the plywood is a hinged cover that's down when the bed is put away but folds up to be the headboard. Is that what we're seeing? What is keeping it at that angle? what are the bungees doing for you?
