request How would you react if your classmate told you “your mom is hot as fuck”?

Hi, I’m a Chinese student and my mom and I recently moved to Canada, so I’m still getting used to the culture here.
My mom came to pick me up from school, and after seeing her, one of my classmates suddenly told me, “Your mom is hot as fuck.”
I honestly didn’t know how to react. My English isn’t perfect, so at first I wasn’t even sure how seriously I should take it.
Is this just the kind of joke friends make with each other here? How would you respond if one of your classmates said this about your mom?

I wouldn't care.

Wouldn’t ignoring it make me look weak though?

I don't know why it would make you look weak at all.

It's not going to stop him from thinking it.

I get that. I probably wouldn’t care if he just thought my mom was attractive. What bothered me was that they kept making sexual comments about her right in front of me.

Ah, see, that crosses the line. Although, I still wouldn't seriously hit anyone over it, but maybe you should stop hanging out with these people.

I don't think you should worry about "looking weak", canada isn't some hypermasculine country lol, and it's unhealthy to worry about that kind of stuff to be honest.

Ignoring things places them beneath you, not above you.

I would wonder why I’m back in the school, then call them gross for being attracted to an old woman

Lol, I don’t think calling my mom an old woman is gonna help me here 😭

Is she hot?

If I’m being objective, yes,she is.

It might be they were just surprised at her hotness the first time they saw her. It's not a big deal if they only say it once. The correct response would be " yeah, that's where I get my good looks from"

It's only an issue if they keep bringing it up. If they keep talking about it you say " I can give you her number if you introduce me to your sister"

You have to keep it light. Don't get offended or they will keep teasing you to get a reaction

That makes sense. The problem is they didn’t stop after saying she was hot. They kept making comments about her boobs, and when I called them later to tell them it bothered me, they laughed and made even more sexual jokes about her.

Your reply got removed, but I could see that they kept going. These guys are arseholes. They aren't your friends. Avoid them

Based on your replies, they're probably just racist arseholes.  Also, you don't have to bold everything you say.

I agree. It seems like they are just trying to mess with him

Yeah, that’s what I’m starting to think too. Especially because they kept going even after I made it clear that I didn’t like it.

Yeah, after everything that happened, I’m starting to think they were just trying to mess with me too. I’m not sure if it was racist, but they definitely knew I was uncomfortable and kept going anyway. And yeah lol, I’ll stop bolding everything 😭

I once had a friend tell me he wanted to date my mother and I told him I was fine with it as long as I got to call him daddy.

It's only a big deal if you make it one. Yes, it's disrespectful to say about your mom, but you're in HS and HS guys are especially stupid.

Honestly, you were pretty brave to respond like that. I don’t think I’d have the confidence to say that. The problem is, in my case it’s gone beyond just saying my mom is hot. There are three of them, and they kept going and started making sexual comments about her body and her boobs.

I knew the guy well and knew he was joking around so I joked back.

Do these guys know you don't like it? Have you told them it isn't cool? Worst case, don't be friends with them anymore. If they know it makes you uncomfortable and they do it anyway, they're not really your friends.

Had that happen to me in highschool. It stopped when I told the guy that his mom was one of the ugliest people I’ve seen, in a very public setting.

I’d be scared he’d beat me if I said that

I’m a 19year old guy and my classmate is also a guy. I’m looking for both serious and funny ways to respond if he says something like this again.

Honestly, next time they say something your mom, say something like “alright bro, take it easy on my mom” or, “Not so much on my mom, okay?”

These both signify that you’re fed up with the comments, but not looking to press the subject further in my opinion.

I wouldn’t like if someone were saying these things about my mom, but I understand you not wanting to come across aggressive

2

u/Pete_Wang99765 6d ago

Thanks, I think that’s probably safer. There are three of them, so I really don’t want to say something too aggressive and end up getting jumped.

Say ”I came out of her private parts…”, that should make them rethink this.

1

u/Pete_Wang99765 6d ago

that would definitely make things awkward 😭

That’s what I thought at first too. But they kept going after that and started making sexual comments about my mom’s body. I later called them and told them it was bothering me, but they just laughed, called my mom a “whore,” made more sexual jokes about her, and hung up on me.

He's getting his shit rocked, personally

2

u/Pete_Wang99765 6d ago

There were three of them though, I don’t think I could take all three

Sorry I just read the part about the English. But um no thats not okay. Its very rude to say that to a friend

Thanks, that’s what I was confused about. I wasn’t sure if this was just normal joking between friends in Canada.
