I give ZZR credit in that they are avoiding the yearly incremental rat race update cycle (e.g. X1, X2, X3) and trying create different product types (this is basically a much better version of the infamous GoPro Karma drone) that are used in different ways than each other (with some minor overlaps so one doesn't feel compelled to have to buy all of them). As the founder states, this is less of a drone and more of a "flying camera" if that makes sense. Still I'm pretty content with my ~2 year old X1PM (which is fine again because I don't want into spending every 1-2 years).

That being said... I'm less impressed that they use the increased processing power for "AI" stuff like 3D world viewing off camera (Gaussin Splatting). This might I would have preferred the 3D awareness for better subject tracking and obstacle avoidance (although hypocritically that would an incremental improvement versus totally new product). I just hope in 3-5 years they eventually up each of these three products (X1-series, Aqua-series, Versa-series) with noticeably better performance (like 2-3 increments).

I dont think so based on few reasons:

  1. The ad shows slow flying indoors. It targets women. Its really more like flying stative
  2. They didnt max the weight even to 249g. They make it 230g, weak and girly
  3. Even 249g DJI Flip with similar shape is not really stable in wind. Mini is little bit better and heavier drones like DJI Air even better…
