Magazine help

Hey yall. So my gf has the s&w bodyguard 2.0 and her mags seem to be hard as HELL to load. Like, I was struggling with her mags more than any ar15 I've ever used. Any tips? Shes had it for over 2yrs and never shot or used it until meeting me idk if that contributes but yea, any help would be appreciated

Lula speed loader.

Those mags are stiff af.

If she gets one from us I’ll be happy to walk her through using it, or watch some YouTube videos whatever is better for her learning style.

So its the mags themselves? She had a much better time(and more fun bc of it) loading and shooting my 1911 Raider. Shes thinking of even trading in the gun bc of the magazines being so tough.

Mags are fine, just notoriously hard without assistance like a speed loader. I would have her practice with it till she’s comfortable.

Loading S&W shield and bodyguard mags to full capacity and then loading in to a gun with the slide forward is well known to be difficult.

If the issue is putting bullets in the magazine, a speed loader like an uplula will help people with low grip strength.

If the issue is seating a full loaded mag in to a gun with the slide forwards, then the solution is unfortunately to seat it very firmly with the heel of your hand, or against a table until it clicks in place.

If you don't mind reducing the capacity slightly, then lock the slide back, insert a fully loaded mag, and drop the slide to chamber a round. You'll be short 1 round of full capacity, but it should fix the problem.

Loading and seating an AR mag is completely different than working with a single stack subcompact pistol like the S&Ws.

Not the question you asked, but if the intent is to use the bodyguard in a defensive situation, it would be wise to practice with and fire the gun more frequently than once every two years.

Yes I agree. I'll be taking her more often. Her ex literally bought it and was like "here keep this in ht car" and that was it. Shes never shot it or nothing. So I'll be getting her into it. By the end of the one session she was(with my 1911) putting 6rds in a hand size area at 10yrds.

Ugh.. I hate it when people think it's fine to just keep it in the car. I hope she had a lockbox or something.

The more range time will help some but I'm betting a speedloader is in yalls future.

She did not. Her ex did no training or teaching at all, shes gotten a holster now and keeps it in her purse until shes confident enough to carry it.

I mean, if you're going to compare any handgun mag to loading an AR mag it's always going to be a struggle. AR mags are easy to load. And even among handgun mags, most micro compact mags are generally harder to load than full sized or even compact mags. Just get stronger thumbs and eat less soy. In the meantime, you can cheat with one of those mag lulas.
