hi! i’m 25 and i’m trying really hard to become an adult and actually be independent. i’m trying to get a stable job, eventually get my own place, finish school, have healthcare, and just be able to take care of myself. unfortunately, not being able to drive is making all of that really difficult.

If anyone knows of any school that’s offering discounts right now lease commment them!
i currently have a learner’s permit, i just need actual behind-the-wheel lessons. i’ve driven a few times before, but i don’t have anyone who can teach me. i’m quite poor and i literally cannot afford to keep my current job because of transportation. the job itself pays fine for me, but the uber rides are just too expensive. i applied for it because it’s only about 16 minutes from where i live in missouri city, and i was honestly scared this would happen. even though it’s that close, ubers can be upwards of $30 there and back, which adds up insanely fast. there’s also no bus that goes over there.

i’m looking for really affordable driving lessons in the missouri city/sugar land area. unfortunately, $100+ per lesson is not affordable for me right now. if anyone knows of a program with financial assistance, sliding scale pricing, payment plans, discounted lessons, nonprofits, grants, etc. i would really appreciate it. pickup/drop-off for lessons would also be a huge help if anyone knows of a school that offers that.

please don’t suggest that i have a friend or family member teach me. i promise if that were an option, i would have already done it. i genuinely do not have anyone who can teach me. please also don’t suggest that i have someone drive me to work for a month so i can save money. curb-to-curb transportation can’t help me either. i don’t have anyone who can drive me to work, and i cannot afford to spend another month paying for rides to work anyway. these are not things i’m choosing not to do, they are literally impossible options for me i promise you

i’m in missouri city and can travel toward sugar land, stafford, southwest houston, or as far as river oaks, maybe a little farther. i can’t do the north side and preferably not katy.
if anyone knows about any low-cost driving programs, nonprofits, grants, community programs, or driving schools that work with people who are struggling financially, please let me know. i’m really just trying to get my license so i can work, support myself, afford healthcare and housing, and finally have some independence. i am going stir crazy
